Grant Gators
Principals Corner
We had a wonderful night of celebration of all the fantastic PTAs and PTSAs at the 69th Annual Livonia PTSA Council Founders Day event this past Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Ann Kosinski our secretary at Grant was honored along with Allie Larsen who is a Grant parent. Andrea Malenfant who is the Livonia PTSA Council President was also selected as Council Member of the Year. She is also a parent of a student at Grant Elementary. Beth Wright was also honored again as the 2022-2023 Livonia Public Schools Elementary Educator of the Year. Congratulations to these wonderful people.
Just a friendly reminder to be cautious while walking in our parking lot in the morning and afternoon. We want to be sure everyone is safe and that our busses can get in and out in a safe and timely manner. We also want all students, staff, and parents to remain safe too.
We were heartbroken to hear the tragic news at MSU this week. This was such a senseless tragedy. Please hug your loved ones.
We sure hope everyone enjoys our Mid-Winter Break. Just a friendly reminder that we do not have school on Monday, February 20, 2023.

Transportation Appreciation
The Livonia PTSA Council is once again hosting our Transportation Appreciation Event! This year, we are including the Maintenance and Warehouse workers as well! Our Transportation, Maintenance, and Warehouse staff work hard for our district and we want to show them how much they are appreciated! We will once again collect donated items for goodie bags to be presented to the staff in March. We have created an Amazon Wish List as well as a Memberhub link to collect monetary donations if families would rather have us shop! We are asking that all donations be received by March 1st.
Amazon Wish List: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/28ISQS99GBTKR
MemberHub Link: https://lptsacouncil.memberhub.com/store/items/826947
As in previous years, we are also asking for handmade cards or coloring sheets from the students to include in the bags. The staff has always said that those are the best part of this event! They love to see the hand-written notes/coloring sheets from the students. There is a QR code on the attached graphic that families can scan for access to coloring sheets that they can print at home or make your own! Livonia PTSA Council members will collect all coloring sheets from schools the week of March 1st.
Thank you for helping us show our appreciation!

Competitive Edge Video and Sign-up for Kindergarten Families
The deadline to sign up for the Competitive Edge Savings Program is fast approaching!
Kindergarten families -- be sure to sign up for this FREE savings program offered by the LPS Education Foundation by Feb. 1! This is a savings account set up through the Michigan Education Savings Program. Families do not invest a dime, but the Foundation starts the account with seed funds, which grow over the course of the student's educational career in LPS. Upon graduation from an LPS school, the student receives a check from the Foundation to assist with future college or trade school plans.
This opportunity is only for current kindergarten students.
