What you are covering as a Lead Teacher...
From 6:15pm-7pm in your classroom
- Your Class Schedule (IN DETAIL) Please explain what words like centers, circle time, and bible time mean. Most parents have not worked in this field do not assume they know what those terms mean or what is happening during those times of the day. Also explain what the goal or the expectation of the student during these times.
- Curriculum - Go over The Learning Circle, and the monthly goals, & Abeka (If you teach an age group that uses Abeka)
- The Bloomz App, your app should be set up before tomorrow night. However your families do not need to be invited to your app until after Back-To-School Night. This DOES NOT mean to drag out the process and not have it ready for them the following week. This event is the perfect opportunity to get the contact information. You are responsible for adding new families to your class on Bloomz as new students enroll into your class throughout the year.
- Birthday Parties How you choose to recognize your students on their birthdays is entirely up to you! BUT BE CONSISTENT!!! If you want to recognize them as they come individually, or group them by month and celebrate all September Birthdays on a specific day that is fine also. Encourage parents towards mini cupcakes instead of regular sized ones, or a fun cookie. Popsicle parties are also fun solution to classrooms that have multiple allergies. They are actual party should happen outside of school and it should not become a huge production.
- Appropriate attire for school & what they need to bring to school. Remind parents that we want the students to feel comfortable to get engaged in various activities that may be viewed as "messy". This is the place to paint, make a mud pie, and write letters in shaving cream. If this is a concern express they need to send extra clothes. Also this is when you can explain the need for extra clothes, this is a great time to ask for missing items like their nap gear, water cup and labeled extra clothes.
- Ways to help your class, This is a good time to ask for help. Is there a helpful mom that wants to cut things out for you? Is there a family wanting to donate items to the class? Maybe you have a parent that is a Community Hero? Really take the time to learn about the families your are serving this year. The more you know about them, and their personal goals for their student, the more successful of a year you will have with your families!
- Snack is NOT provided for school aged children, go over what is appropriate (no sodas etc, snack sized portion etc.)
Extra Forms you should have out in case they haven't received it...
- Meet the Teacher letter about yourself
