2nd grade Community Service Project connects their annual Family Food Pantry Drive with a book drive for local families!
Betty Trummel came to speak to the 2nd grade about their community service project of collecting new and gently used books. The books will be given to local families during the annual holiday event at the Family Pantry of Cape Cod. We will be collecting books through December 13th. Any books that you'd like to donate - picture books, non-fiction, fiction, chapter books - will be appreciated.
This event is being coordinated by A to Z Literacy Movement, a nonprofit with the goal of getting books into the hands of our most vulnerable readers.
There are drop off boxes in the front lobby. Thanks for your continued support!
As winter approaches...please remember to dress in layers. New England is known for it's unpredictable weather, so please plan accordingly! WINTER CLOTHING EXCHANGE AT CES!

Morning Music Selection of the Week at HES!
Mozart; Eine kleine Nacht-Musik or A Little Night Music
The serenade was written in Vienna on 10 August 1787, around the time Mozart was working on his opera Don Giovanni. The traditionally used name of the work comes from the entry Mozart made for it in his personal catalog, which begins, "Eine kleine Nacht-Musik”. Mozart was probably not giving the piece a special title, but only entering in his records that he had completed a little serenade.
The work was not published until about 1827, long after Mozart's death. It had been sold to this publisher in 1799 by Mozart's widow Constanze, as part of a large bundle of her husband's compositions.
Today the serenade is widely performed and recorded, and the serenade is the most popular of all Mozart's works. One person who was talking about the music said, "even if we hear it on every street corner, its high quality is undisputed, an occasional piece from a light but happy pen."
