New books arriving daily
Boxes of new books are arriving in the media center. This year's focus is on fiction, social and natural sciences, geography and history. I've continued to add to the ebook collection (available from FollettShelf on Destiny) which should work on your tablets and smartphones. Teachers use your email login for both username and password. Download a book and enjoy. If you need help setting up, come on by or check our helper page.
We're up to 9,653 ebooks in the collection, some of the non-fiction as unlimited copies. As always, give us your suggestions of great reads and resources for our students.
We may not be Elm Street's Scuppernong Books, but we probably have something you want to read. Check us out before the holidays!
Poetry Out Loud Competition
Come by and see our students recite from memory poems as part of the Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest. Students choose several poems to learn and will compete to go to district competition. More about the program at http://www.poetryoutloud.org/about or see Ms. Mooney-Flynt.

What's APP-ening?
Genius Scan will turn your smartphone/tablet into a portable scanner. Uses your camera to create .pdf documents that you can send to Evernote, DropBox or just email (and others). Great tool!
The Book Club
Students who like to read and discuss great books are invited to join the Northern Book Club. Help us promote this revamped club. Our first meeting is Thursday. Please come prepared to suggest a book to read. If you have questions, see Mr. Willoughby in room 272 or Ms. Adams-Caskie in the media center. The Gentlemen's Literary Society is now The Book Club and all genders are invited!
