Glacier Ridge Elementary School 09.25.20
Dear Glacier Ridge Families,
Dear Glacier Ridge Families,
We had a great week here at GRS as many of our OASIS and Adjusted Learning students returned to learn. It is exciting to see the smiling faces of children again in the building.
The district continues to communicate to parents about our October 5th return to learn. On Monday you will receive your child's class assignment electronically. Now that all staff has been allocated for remote learning and in person instruction, building administrators have been instructed not to make any changes to the children's class assignment whether in person, remote or changing classroom teachers.
We will continue to work together to make your child's learning experience top notch within the parameters we have to work with. Polar Bears are resilient and strong.
Enjoy your first fall weekend.
Mr. Jacobsen
We are SO excited to be back!!

Global Read Aloud REMOTE "After school" Club
Get ready because it's coming! The first After School Club of the Year - The Remote Global Read Aloud Book Club. Ms. Thomas will be reading 2 of the Global Read Aloud books to students this year and then engaging in discussions about these amazing books. The first book is Planet Omar: Accidental Trouble Magnet by Zanib Mian. This book club will be for first and second grade students. The second book is Indian No More by Charlene Willing and Traci Sorell. This book club will be open to 4th and 5th grade students. Third grade students will have their choice of book clubs with assistance being provided by Ms. Thomas. Planet Omar will be on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:15 and Indian No More will be on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30. The clubs will begin the week of October 5 and end the week of November 9th.
These virtual clubs will be open to any first through fifth grade Glacier Ridge Student that would like to participate. The students will watch/listen to a section of the book being read aloud prior to coming to the club. Then during our club time, we will have a little more read aloud time together and we will all share our thoughts and ideas about the book. There is nothing to purchase since we will be reading the books aloud to the students, but they are welcome to purchase the books if they would like to read along.
Look for a form coming out at the beginning of next week for interested students to sign up for one of the clubs. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Thomas at glthomas@d47.org. We look forward to these wonderful book clubs with our amazing Polar Bears!

Family Contact Information
When we are able to transition back to in-person learning please carefully consider who you choose as an emergency contact. Contacts should be adults who are available during the day and have transportation should it be necessary to pick up your child(ren) from school. If necessary, please contact your child’s school to update your information.
Remote Learning Attendance Procedures
Student attendance will be taken online daily by teachers during synchronous learning. Any students missing will be reported to the school’s main office. Parents/guardians should call the school’s attendance line (available 24/7) and leave a message to report student absences for any reason. When you call to report an absence for your child who isn't feeling well, and can't participate in remote learning, please include your child's symptoms with your message.
