The Reading Room
The End of Trimester 3!
Sad to Say Goodbye
It has been a wonderful trimester in The Reading Room. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with your son or daughter and getting to know them as readers. We have learned to think while we read, to pay close attention to the text and to ask/answer questions about what we are reading. Please continue to do all of these things throughout the summer as you read together.
Reading Progress Reports
I will be sending home a detailed Reading Progress report at the end of this trimester on Thursday, May 11th. This report will show your child's pre-assessment level (their reading level at the start of the trimester)) and their post assessment level. I will outline your child's strengths as a reader and goals to work on for continued growth.
Come in for a Meeting
Please email me, by Sunday June 7, with a time that might work for you on Monday, June 8. I have the whole day open for meeting with parents. I'd love to chat with you about your child's reading progress and goals. Please send me an email with a couple of suitable times and I'll reply with a time that works.
Monday June 8 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Returning books to The Reading Room
Please have a look around your house and check for any books you may have from my classroom. I am happy for these to be returned at any time before the close of school. If you find one over the summer, your child can bring it in next year:)
Summer Reading and Parent Survey
You will receive another newsletter detailing the importance of summer reading. I will provide resources and ideas for summer reading so please be on the lookout for that next week.
I will also be sending out a link to a parent survey. I would really appreciate your help in filling this out. Your answers to the questions will help me to continue to improve the UE Reading Specialist program.
