Newsletter Term 3 Week 3

Patumahoe School 11th August 2021

Principal's Desk

Kia ora and greetings to all

Jasper Parker in Room 14 and Presley Davies from Room 3 have been writing sentences and proudly showed me their work. Well done Jasper and Presley, ka pai to mahi. (see pictures below)

Cross Country is just around the corner. Classrooms have been doing daily practice and I have been running lunchtime fitness for those who want a little extra. Our Cross Country is next Friday the 20th and it gets underway at 1pm on the Clive Howe Field (next to the school).

Three of our netball teams have big matches this weekend. The Gems, Emeralds, and Comets are all in the semifinals. Good luck in your bid to make the grand final.

Mathex is a mathematics competition for expert primary school mathematicians. As previous winners of the Franklin Schools' Mathex event, our school has been invited to the Auckland Mathex Competition held at Kohimarama this Sunday. We have 3 teams representing our school. Good luck to our mathematicians and we standby for an update next week.

We have some new lights set to be installed under 'The Cloud'' tomorrow. This has been been made possible through Pelorus Trust support. The lights which are key switch operated will convert the 'Cloud' into an all conditions venue. I know this might be of use to local sports teams (hockey, netball and cricket) with evening training. Once a few details are worked out on our end we will advertise how you go about accessing 'The Cloud' and the light key for this purpose.

You will by now be aware of the Bake Sale that is being organised by a group of our Year 6 boys. They aim to raise funds for their friend and former student William, whose dad is very sick and requires special medical treatment. Younger brother Fletcher also attended our school and he too would have some young friends here. Any cakes and baked goods would be greatly appreciated and they can be sent in on Thursday or Friday this week. The bake sale will run from 2.15pm this Friday after assembly.

This weeks assembly hosted by Rooms' 2 and 5 and will start at the earlier time of 1.30pm to allow time for the BAKE SALE
