What is this leaflet about?
In this leaflet you will find out about the most significant figures in the history of computing. Such as Blaise Pascal, Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace. You will also find out about Alan Turing a very significant part of World War 2.
Blaise Pascal
Was a french mathematician, physicist, inventor, writer and philosopher. He invented the first ever calculator and the adding machine.
Charles Babbage
Created the first arithmetic computer. He was born in Exeter on the 1st of January 1970.
Ada Lovelace
She designed the first analytically computer and did a lot of work with Charles Babbage.
Alan Turing
What he did
Alan Turing was a very significant part of the war, he invented a very intelligent computer called the Anigma. This computer was used to crack the German's messages to the submarines and tanks.
