127 AHS students recognized by College Board National Recognition Program
The number of Aledo High School students recognized as National Recognition Program Scholars by the College Board increased 226.6% in the past year. AHS had 127 students earn 136 total honors this year, up from 39 students earning 57 honors last year.
“This amazing increase in recognition by the College Board is a direct reflection of the hard work of our students, teachers and counselors as well as our increased emphasis on advanced academics over the last couple of years,” Aledo High School Principal Angi Tims said. “We are so proud of these students and can’t wait to follow their continued success.”
College Board's four recognition programs—National African American Recognition Program, National Hispanic Recognition Program, National Indigenous Recognition Program, and National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program—award academic honors to underrepresented students.
Students must meet GPA and PSAT/NMSQT score requirements, among other things, to be considered for these honors. Students must also identify as African American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Indigenous, or attend high school in a rural area or small town.

Cross Country State Bound!
The Aledo Ladycats cross country team finished fourth overall at the regional cross country meet in Lubbock earlier this week, qualifying for the State Cross Country Championships in Round Rock along with boys runner Jack Fink!
The Ladycats finished with 3 girls in the top 13 overall and were paced by Freshman Molly Garrison. Garrison finished in 2nd place overall, less than a second behind the Regional Champion.
On the boys side, the Bearcats just missed qualifying for State as a team by 4 points (only 12 points out of 2nd place!), finishing 5th overall. Sophomore Jack Fink's 13th place finish qualified him for the State CC Meet individually.
Bearcat Regiment and Visual Ensemble Repeats
Congratulations to the Bearcat Regiment and Visual Ensemble for being BACK-TO-BACK Area F Champions! They performed Saturday evening in Birdville. Up next is Bands of America competition on Saturday in Waco.
As bands only compete at UIL state every other year (until next year!), the Bearcat Regiment and Visual Ensemble will not be competing at UIL state this year. We can't wait to see them continue their streak of UIL success next year!
