Painless Fundraiser
On Friday, October 22nd, we will begin a school-wide fundraising program called the PAINLESS FUNDRAISER. This fundraiser will simply ask for a donation to the school instead of the students having to sell items.
What is it: The PAINLESS FUNDRAISER gives 100% of the money raised directly to Murchison Elementary, plain and simple. The idea behind this kind of fundraiser is to generate more funds for the school while decreasing the stress on parents and kids to sell items like cookies, magazines, or gift-wrap to family and neighbors. Additionally, the Painless Fundraiser prevents MES from having to return a large percentage of the amount raised back to a fundraising company. We also feel this is a safer, contactless fundraising option due to the ongoing pandemic.
How it works: For contactless payment, you may visit the MES Online Store to make an electronic donation (https://pflugervilleisd.revtrak.net/es/murchison-elementary/#/list). If you would prefer to send cash or check, please send it in the provided envelope. Our fundraiser will officially run from October 22nd through November 5th.
Our Goals: Through the generosity of our families, we were able to raise $15,600 last year. We are hoping to surpass last year’s goal with a goal of $18,000 this year. We know that COVID has hit many families hard but as a school we still rely on fundraisers. Participation is completely optional and any amount is greatly appreciated; no amount is too big and no amount is too small! Donations can come from parents, grandparents, family, or friends.
If we reach our $18,000 goal, Ms. Quinney will camp out on the school’s roof!
The class with the most donations will get to have an ice cream sundae party with Ms. Quinney!
We will use these funds to purchase:
· Mustang Store/PBIS Rewards student prizes and renewal of the PBIS Rewards app
· Field trips and virtual field trips
· Student 9-week awards
· Carpe Diem Day and Field Day
· Teacher hospitality for staff morale
· Fish tank cleaning and fish food
· Professional Learning opportunities for staff
Please help us make this a successful fundraising event. We are hoping that this simple process increases participation and more funds will go directly back to our school. Please help us accomplish this!
Thank you for your partnership in simplifying our fundraising efforts!

Lunch money
Clarification from our cafeteria: if a student only wants free milk, they must take the entire meal that comes with it. Otherwise, milk is .75 cents, and the student can join the lunch line along with the kids getting the full meal. Parents can add milk money to their student’s accounts. Parents may want to mark the money for "milk only" if they don’t want them buying snacks and ice cream with it.
Gifted and Talented Screening
Gifted and Talented screening takes place once per year beginning in November and concluding at the end of February. To be screened in this window referrals must be completed before the October 29, 2021 deadline. Referrals completed after this date will be tested in the following year testing window.
The GT referral form is linked here or Ms. Cruz Gauna can provide you with a paper copy. Email her at gloria.cruzgauna@pfisd.net for more information.

Book Fair
Dear Parents and Families:
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our library and PTO, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from November 8th-12th, 2021 at the MES Library:
- Unfortunately, parents will not be allowed in the building during this year’s fair. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the school safely soon.
- THIS YEAR’S FAIR IS CASHLESS: Our Book Fair offers eWallet, a safe and secure alternative to cash. Simply create a free account to add funds and/or invite family and friends to contribute so your child can select their own books. Any unused funds can be spent at The Scholastic Store Online or to fund a future eWallet at our next Book Fair. Get started here: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/murchisonlibrary
- During the week of the fair, if you would like to shop from home. then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:
