The Weekly Roar
August 15, 2022
Welcome to Lemon Crest!
We hope that all of you enjoyed a wonderful summer! Our team is so excited to welcome our students and families to an exciting 2022-2023 school year.
My name is Kelly Gilbert, and I'm thrilled to be your new principal. Although I'm new to Lemon Crest, I'm not new to Lakeside. Some of you may recognize me as the former principal of Eucalyptus Hills and Flex School. I can't wait to meet all of you and start working together to help your students learn!
This newsletter, the Weekly Roar, will be sent out every week. Here, you'll find the most up-to-date information about all of the great things happening in our school! In this week's newsletter, you will find quite a bit of important information to help you get started this year. Please read the information carefully, and don't hesitate to send us an email or give us a call if you have any questions. See you soon!
In partnership,
Kelly Gilbert
Lemon Crest Principal

Please Have Patience with Drop Off & Pick Up!!! :)
Lemon Crest remains a closed campus, we will be utilizing the carpool loop or walking gates for drop off and pick up. Here's how this works:
If you're walking:
Walk your child up to the gate. Your child will enter the campus and proceed to their classroom line up area. For pick up, just wait at the pick up gate until your child exits the campus.
Please note: We do not allow students to walk unattended in the parking lot. PLEASE DO NOT park and allow them to walk alone. The parking lot gets very busy in the morning and we do not want any accidents!
If you're driving:
You will remain in your vehicles, and you will drive your child right up to the school, following the pathway marked by cones. Please do not exit your vehicle; we will be outside to open the car door, greet our students with a warm smile, and escort them to class. For pick up, you will remain in your vehicles and your students will be escorted to you.
Please note: For safety reasons, we are unable to unbuckle or buckle your child.
A LITTLE LOVE GOES A LONG WAY...
The first few days of school always require a little bit of extra time, love, and patience as we help our students learn to navigate the drop off and pick up procedures. Please allow for extra time and model kindness as our Lions get into the school routine!TIPS & TRICKS:
- Soon, you'll receive a set of placards with your child's name and teacher's name on it. This placard will be hung from your rearview mirror at pick up and drop off. This lets us get your child to your car quickly and safely.
- To make things safer for everyone, it is best if your child is located on the RIGHT side of the vehicle.
- For safety reasons, we cannot buckle/unbuckle your child. Please help your child practice buckling and unbuckling.
- On the first day of school please be kind and have grace. Drop off and pick up always takes a while in the beginning. By June, you'll look back and be amazed by how independent your children have become!
School Supplies
Please send your child to school with the following items (labeled with his or her name on it!) each day:
- full sized backpack
- for our TK & K students, a change of clothes, including underwear and socks, in a ziplock bag
- headphones for the ipad (not earbuds)
- a small healthy snack
If your child needs additional supplies, your child's teacher will let you know during the first week of school. In general, teachers usually have Kleenex, baby wipes, copy paper, glue sticks, crayons, and pencils on their wish lists.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES COMING SOON
We LOVE our parent volunteers and we can't wait to have you help us out at school. Near the middle of September, your child's teacher will begin asking for classroom volunteers! Be on the lookout for a communication with all the ways you can help.
We know that many of you are anxious to get started right away. Thanks for your patience as we hold off on taking volunteers for the first few weeks. We're excited to get to know our students and get them settled into their routines. We can't wait to see you soon!
Posting Party Sponsored by PTA
