Week 6: Week of September 28, 2015
Our Mission
We believe that through teaching and learning, we have the opportunity to impact and positively change the lives of our students. We believe that all students are capable of defining and experiencing success, ultimately building confidence in themselves while instilling a spirit of generosity, drive, passion, and focus. We work in collaboration with San Jacinto College to help students attain college credit with the aspiration of earning an Associate's Degree and Distinguished High School diploma in four years.
"You Can Be a Cheerleader"
This was from a student last year: "...the teachers here stay on me and my grades to make sure that I get the best grades possible. Then not only do they help me, but they help all the people around me. They really try to make sure that we understand the material and get it to the best of our ability."
In Adam Davico's Inside the Trenches, he states that one of the things we can be is a cheerleader for our students. In conversations I've had with students, many are beginning to feel the pressures and demands of their courses, which is great that they are acknowledging this. We must be especially purposeful in our encouragement with one another, and with our students. Take a moment this week to follow up with a student you are concerned with and offer words of encouragement. Have a great week!
