3rd Grade News You Can Use
3rd Quarter Overview
3rd Grade Happenings
Happy 3rd Quarter families and friends. It seems like just yesterday we were headed back to school. Your 3rd grader is well on their way to becoming dynamic 4th graders in a few short months. In person learning is well on its way. We truly enjoy having the students back in the building. On that note please remind your students the importance of wearing their mask correctly and maintaining social distance to ensure the safety of all.
Weekly Updates to Resume
On Monday January 25th, weekly announcements via class dojo will continue. Your students will also begin to receive weekly progress reports that will show any missing assignments or additional practice that maybe needed. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate through our new normal.
Math Updates
We will begin Module 5 on 01/25. This is our fraction unit. Students will be engaged in learning how to partition into equal parts using units of halves, thirds, fourths, and eights. Please support your child by encouraging them to practice their multiplication facts daily.
Science Updates
This quarter in Science we will focus on Energy Transfer and The Properties of Matter. Students will be engaged in learning how energy can neither be created nor destroyed.
Social Studies Updates
This Quarter in Social Studies your child will engage in a black history project that is centered around women and children making a difference. Students will engage in meaningful dialogue centered around change begins with self initiative. Students will analyze the impact of contributions made by diverse historical figures in our local communities over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Many parents have requested information in regards to celebrating your child's birthday during class as we have in the past. Do to the restrictions in place due to Covid-19 students can not bring in outside items to share with others. I am currently working to generate a way in which students can share valentine items with each other. One suggestion is that you may purchase items and send in by your student but they will have to remain closed. Myself or Mr. Smith will use gloves to pass out items to individual students. Again your child will not be allowed to pass out valentine cards that have been opened and signed at home. Unfortunately we can not allow the risk of cross contamination. Please feel free to contact me should you have any suggestions or comments.
