ELA
In ELA, we have been working on recounting a story using the Elements of Literature. The students have practiced whole group, with partners, and on their own. We have also been working on describing characters by their traits and emotions. Finally, we are pulling all of our learning together to describe characters and use temporal sequence words in our story recounts. We will continue to work on this skill throughout the rest of the school year! We also have been practicing how to ask questions before, during, and after reading. Our students are so excited to be able to do that because they are using their metacognition!!
Guided reading and stations are up and running in our classrooms!! Your child will visit 2 literacy stations a day, unless they meet with their teacher at the reading table. Students will be working with 1-2 other students collaboratively at their stations to complete their assigned tasks. All tasks focus on building skills to become a stronger reader and/or writer and have a direct relation to our curriculum.
Writer's Workshop
Writer's workshop is in full swing! Students are enjoying mini lessons and then being able to use those new skills while creating personal narratives. Share time is the ABSOLUTE best time! We love hearing the creative process come to life!

Math
In math, we have worked REALLY HARD on various types of word problems! We've learned to use math mountains, equations, and draw compare pictures to find out the answer to our word problems. We will be finishing up our first unit next week and beginning to review for the Unit 1 assessment the following week. Please be aware we will continue to take "quick quizzes" throughout the unit. These will provide the teachers and you an update as to how your child is doing on the current unit.
Thank you for your support :-)

Science
We have been piloting two science problems so far. The students are so engaged with the phenomena that is introduced before each lesson. It is so exciting and satisfying watching those little faces light up when they are questioning, observing, and exploring.

A HUGE THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for supporting our Orange Ruler Fund Raiser! We went above and beyond our goal! We are so blessed to have such a wonderful, supporting community.
