Alief ISD News and Recognitions

Over the Summer...

Kerr High School students won first place at the FBLA National Leadership Conference.

Ly Ha and Elizabeth Luu won in the Computer Game and Simulation category.

Alief ISD high school students earned 7 Superior medals at the International Thespian Festival.

Students representing Elsik, Kerr and Taylor received medals:


  • Mohammed Hakim and Carlos Guevara (Elsik/Duet Acting)
  • Chayanne Cabrales (Kerr/Solo Musical)
  • Jennifer Mendoza (Kerr/Stage Management)
  • Daivon Barone, Esther Falokun and Natalie Yarborough (Taylor/Group Acting)

Albright and Olle Middle School competed at the National Speech and Debate Association's Middle School National Tournament.

The following students received awards:


Albright:

  • Dara Adebanjo finished sixth in the nation in Prose Interpretation.
  • The team of Sheila Nguyen, Khanh Dang, and Casey Nguyen advanced to the quarterfinals in World Schools Debate (top 7 in the nation).


Olle:

  • Vivica Haverly advanced to the semifinals in Poetry Interpretation (top 15 in the nation) and the quarterfinals in Dramatic Interpretation (top 30 in the nation).
  • Gabriel Ajaegbu advanced to the semifinals in Declamation (top 15 in the nation).
  • The team of Gabriel Ajaegbu and Vivica Haverly advanced to the quarterfinals in Duo Interpretation (top 30 in the nation).
  • Chanel Correa advanced to the quarterfinals in Poetry Interpretation (top 30 in the nation).

Kerr High School students starred in the live production of Action Packed Summer at Children's Museum of Houston.

Amy Reyes, Joseph Bilski and Wayne Wong performed in the live production. Bilski and Wong graduated as a part of the Class of 2019, and Reyes is currently a junior.
