Weekly Staff Charge Up!
December 10th, 2023
Message from the Principal
Next week marks the end of the first semester of school. Fall semester final exams begin on Tuesday, please see the schedule below. On Monday students need to review their Skyward account and verify their exemptions (if they earned any) are correct. All students must follow the exam exemption protocol emailed last week and attached below. If there are any concerns or discrepancies, students are to contact their assistant principal.
If you have exemptions, do not forget that attendance is mandatory to keep it! Starting Wednesday, exempt students may report to the cafeteria each morning at 9:45. I have reattached the exam schedule and exam protocol "exit ticket" - parent signature sheet that must be turned in EACH day you (if you are exempt) and are planning to leave after you check into your test classes and meet the attendance time. Print ALL 4 and get them signed RIGHT NOW!
- Again, this SIGNED form is REQUIRED for you to be released off campus EACH day after attendance is taken by your teacher.
- This means you need to print off FOUR SEPARATE FORMS and must present ONE EACH day to be released to leave. (You CANNOT turn these in early or ALL in ONE day!)
- Please note, any exempt student that does not have a form will remain in that testing class until the conclusion of the test PERIOD, as we are not going to disrupt the testing environment for the students that are focused and trying to do their best on their final exam. So please plan accordingly,
- Any exempt student arriving after 10 am (this a hard deadline) will be counted absent and receive a zero for that exam.
Senior Portrait deadline is 12/15. These are the ONLY portraits that will be used for the 2024 Yearbook and in the Senior Slideshow at graduation in May.

Instructional Highlights
Relevant Reviews
Science and Law students in several classes worked to create some holiday art for the hallways, but the best part is that this was part of their exam review. As students created ornaments, they had to recall and summarize information. This was a neat way to engage the students in the content and also add a little holiday cheer to our hallways!

Walkthroughs
Admin will use the 'Lamar CISD Classroom Expectations' template in Strive for walkthroughs. The district is calibrating how we enter walkthroughs across campuses. Note the following:
- 'N/A' will be used when we would not expect to see the indicator listed at the time we visited the room
- Ex: We would choose 'N/A' for 'Greets students at the door' if our visit is after class begins
- 'Not Observed' will be used when we would have expected to see the noted indicator at the time we enter
- This is not intended to be negative feedback - we are aware that we will not observe all items during every visit
- Feedback will be included with an area of Reinforcement and Refinement
- CFHS admin will be calibrating on how we define these areas
- Feel free to ask the administrator entering the walkthrough if you have any questions about yours
Charger Time
Please make sure that you are enrolled in the Charger Time Canvas and access it each day during Charger Time.
There may be short tasks for students or information for students from Mr. Forshee, Ms. Saville, counselors, etc. Click the purple button to access the Canvas. Navigate to the appropriate week/day.
Information from Instructional Coaches
Everyone is doing a remarkable job working to engage our students! Don't forget our "big three" strategies that connect to last years 8 Kagan strategies!
1. Get them moving.
2. Get them talking.
3. Get them in front of you.
Do your students know the goal/objective of the day's work? Can they tell you in their own words?
We are so grateful to see teachers implementing engagement strategies in class! It isn't an easy task to keep students motivated, but you are working tirelessly to make the magic happen!
Moving forward, and into January PD, we'll be digging deeper into our big goals by working on ways to help students learn how to talk to each other. We will also be diving into Deep Practice, and how we can help students retain information over longer periods of time.
If you are doing anything with deep practice and/or student talk, we would love to see and chat with you! Your ideas can help everyone!
In the meantime, we wish you a wonderful holiday break!

Our AP exam order was submitted on 11/15, however, students can still register for their AP exam with a $40 late fee per exam. The SLC students require a very structured and routine classroom. Rosie is able to provide her class a safe environment that promotes skill development even with the diverse needs of her students.
Category – Instructional Strategies – Ashley Sweeny
Ashley is doing an amazing job organizing and providing resources to every Algebra 1 student here at Fulshear. She puts together Quizziz (game), paper activities and IXL work for the entire team to make sure they are learning in different ways. She rocks.
