Mr. Corso’s Principal’s Message
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
PUSD is beginning to work on a middle school redesign. We are gathering input from our families and would like to invite you to share your thoughts. Our focus question is: What would make your child’s middle school experience more meaningful and memorable? Your input will help shape our planning and priorities. The survey will be open until Wednesday, March 16. Please take a moment to share your ideas through this ThoughtExchange parent/guardian link.
We will also be asking your children to share their ideas through a link on their Canvas page starting March 9, 2022 or through this student link.

Positive Messages: This Thursday I read to students…Good morning Black Mountain. This week you will see a Canvas notification to participate in a short survey. Poway Unified is redesigning middle school and we want to hear from students. We are asking what would make middle school more meaningful and memorable. Please complete this during your free time or at home by March 16th and let your voice be heard.
This week is probably the last week that it is mandatory to wear masks indoors at school. On Monday, it will be optional to wear a mask while in class. This may be a difficult adjustment for some people. We all need to be kind, respectful and understanding. If you choose to continue to wear a mask, that’s okay, and if you choose to not wear a mask that’s okay too. Whatever you choose, please be respectful to others that might not make the same choice. We all have differing opinions and it’s your responsibility to be respectful of someone else’s choice.
Course Selection: Yesterday, 6th and 7th grade BMMS students engaged in a Homeroom lesson focused on selecting courses for next year. We have posted two videos on our YouTube page that show how to select courses at BMMS. Here are those two links:

Thank you to everyone who came to our Library and Wellness Center Grand Opening and the Social Justice Challenge last week. The common thread among all three of these: Our Kids. We have redesigned our library space to become more welcoming, the Wellness Center will help address the social/emotional needs of our students and the Social Justice Challenge allowed students to express themselves in unique ways regarding social concerns important to them. We had a wonderful turnout at the Grand Opening.
We appreciate your support.

Power Hour
Power Hour is a voluntary after-school program for students 2:30-3:30pm Monday-Thursday. This is a great way for students to get help from a teacher. We are offering some academic support and enrichment opportunities. Below is a printable PDF you can post at home. Please note: There will be no Math 7 Power Hour on March 22 and Mrs. Frangos will be taking over Tuesday Math 7 Power Hour starting March 29.
