Mustang Parent Newsletter
November 2020
A Note from the Principal
This school year is proving to be one like no other! We are doing our best during these challenging times, and thank our school board, our parents, and our staff for the continued input as we maneuver the COVID pandemic in order to keep our students and staff safe at MPS. Thanks to our families who are keeping students home if they feel sick, and for following quarantine orders by our GF County Health in order to protect each other and contain the virus. This ensures that we can continue to keep our doors open and offer in-person learning to our families.
Our custodians continue to sanitize and clean our school regularly, and staff and students are vigilant about washing hands and wearing masks when social distancing of six feet cannot be obtained. We continue to learn and offer quality education whether families have chosen distance learning or our in-school model. Rest assured, your child's safety is our top priority at MPS, and we appreciate the 'grace' you have given us in the past few months since school began.
I have to give a shout-out to our Manvel teachers and staff who are going above and beyond this year to offer lessons and instruction in both online and in-person modes simultaneously. It is really amazing to witness, and the students have been GREAT in helping make this mode of learning possible. Thanks to those parents who filled out our distance learning survey. We always take the feedback to heart to help make us better. Thank you for giving us grace and supporting us as we work together to make this school year a successful one, despite all the craziness around us. We are working harder than ever to make this possible.
As we continue on through this COVID journey, our MPS Health and Safety Plan has been updated via the October school board meeting. To read through it, I have attached the link below.

We had a great Red Ribbon Week in support of drug-free schools. Thanks to our school counselor, Mrs. Ketterl, student council advisors, Mr. Barandi, and Mrs. Sandness, and the student council for all their hard work to make it successful.
Due to COVID, our annual PTO Turkey Bingo Fundraiser has been modified this year. Please see the information below about PTO BINGO and how you can still support Manvel's PTO fundraiser, as well as our Manvel School Book Fair on-line.
In honor of Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving Holiday, this is also a reminder there is No School on Wednesday, November 11th, and No School on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, November 25, 26, & 27. Our 1-hour Late Start is planned for Wednesday the 18th as well.
As the cold weather moves in, we would like to remind you to have our Mustang students bundled up with warm winter wear. *If you would like instant winter weather and school updates, you can sign up for the Manvel Mustang Parents REMIND app if you haven't already. You can find the directions to sign up at the bottom of this newsletter or on our website. If you are a family in need of winter clothing, please reach out to me or our school office.
Lastly, as we enter into the month of November, we want to GIVE THANKS for the opportunity to work with our families and students at MPS. We are grateful for the support and feedback that you give us to help make MPS a place that guides students to a happy, successful, and safe education! As always, we value your feedback about how things are going and we are always open to your input and ideas on how to make Manvel School better. This school belongs to all of us, and you are a special part of our success! Please reach out to Mr. Wheeler or me ~ we are happy to visit.
We are grateful for you. Have a healthy and happy Thanksgiving!
