Child Care Chalkboard

June 1-30

Blast into summer event

Please join us in the Big Field for our kick off to summer event, Wednesday June 9 4:00-5:30 pm. We will have snow cones, the Puppy Palace, potato sack races, bean bag toss and more. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher, as well as get to know some of the other parents. In the case of inclement weather, we will move to the gym.

Ice Cream Wagon

Once a week the Youth Center children will visit the other classrooms for the opportunity to purchase Popsicles and Ice Cream Treats after snack. The treats will cost $.75-$2.00. We will provide Otter Pops for anyone who does not have money. If you would like to bring $5 or $10, we would be happy to keep this in an envelope for your child to use each week. We will let you know when it runs low. Look for the "ICW" (Ice Cream Wagon) in our field trip section to find out what day it will take place each week.

Items Needed Daily for Summer

1. Sunscreen 30+SPF (Please arrive with first application on!)

Sunscreen will be applied by the teachers every four hours starting at 10:00. To ensure your child is protected, please make sure to apply sunscreen before or upon arrival each morning. If you have not done so, the teachers will ask you to do so before you leave.

2. Swimsuit and towel (Please label)

Please make sure your child has a swimsuit available each day. Even if a water event is not scheduled on the newsletter, the teachers may choose to do a water activity. If you take the swimsuit home to wash, don't forget to bring it back the next day.

3. Water Bottle (Please label)

Please send a water bottle that will not leak when we are on field trips. We will wash the water bottles every day in the dishwasher. This allows for them to stay here the entire week so they do not get forgotten at home.

Our staff

We always have some new staff in the summer so please remember to bring your ID when you pick up.

Goodbye and God Bless

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to two long-standing teachers. Mrs. DeShaw has completed her degree and will be leaving for the summer before taking a teaching position in the public school system. Miss Jeannette has decided it is time to retire and spend more time with her young grandchildren. We will miss both of them, but wish them God's Blessings in this next chapter of their lives.

Field Trips

Summer is the time for field trips. Please read any descriptions to see if there are special items your child needs. We will also list a price for some of the field trips. This price will be added to your bill so that you do not need to bring cash on that day. There are a few Youth Center and Beehive field trips in which your child is allowed to bring cash for concessions. These will be specified in the description. If you are bringing cash for concessions please make sure the teacher is aware so they can keep it in a secure location.

Some of our field trips have not been confirmed yet. These are labeled "Tentative". We will post a sign at the appropriate building when these are confirmed. Also, if any field trips need to be cancelled we will post a sign stating such.

International Mud Day

On June 29 we will be celebrating International Mud Day. International Mud Day is a day when children all over the world are encouraged to experience the joy of playing with and in mud. We will have many opportunities for the children in each center to explore mud. This means they will be getting very dirty. We recommend that you send some "mud clothes" with your child for this day. Once the activities are over we will have your child clean up and change back into clean clothes. The muddy clothes will be sent home at the end of the day.

Happy Father's Day

Office Lock Box

We have a lock box outside the old office (the Little Daycare). This is a secure place to put your payments or other important items for the office.

Immunization Update

When your child receives new immunizations, please bring those records in to the office. We must keep immunizations up to date on all children. Our records are checked yearly to make sure all children are current. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Kid's Say the Darndest Things

On the field trip to Wild Montana Wood, there was a discussion about the backhoe. One of the teachers asked the children what it could be used for. Some suggestions were "Dig a hole," or "Dig a trench." Then one of the children piped up with, "You could dig for treasure!"

One of the 3 year olds was carrying woodchips across the cement to the playhouse. When a teacher tried to stop him and have him take them back to the woodchip area, he took off running to the house. As he entered the door he yelled excitedly, "I got the popcorn!"

Happy Independence Day!

We will be closed Monday, July 5th in honor of Independence Day.
