Chromium was first discovered by Louis_Nicholas Vauquelin when he was experimenting with a material called Siberian red lead, witch is the mineral crocoite in 1797. He created chromium oxide by mixing crocoite with hydrochloric acid. Chromium is now created by heating the mineral chromite, in the presence of aluminum or silicon. Chromium is a blue-white metal that is hard, brittle, and super corrosion resistant. Chromium is used to make stainless steel, armor plate, safes, ball bearings and cutting tools (also the color).
