LMS Tiger Talk
May 27, 2022
#EveryTigerEveryDay
Principal’s Message
Looks like we made it (sings in Barry Manilow voice)! We wrapped up the school year today in a grand fashion. 8th-grade students celebrated the end of their middle school journey with a day at Grand Sands and 7th-grade students ruled the school with fun activities and Kona Ice. As I mentioned last week, the end of the year for schools is always full of mixed emotions. We are so proud of the work of our students, but we are also already missing them as students head out into summer and new adventures for next year.
As the school year ends, on behalf of all our staff at LMS, I want to take a moment to extend my deepest thanks to you all:
- Thank you for your support and collaboration. We can't do what we do without you.
- Thank you for making it another awesome year at LMS and across our school and community. It was another year we did not expect. Your partnership makes it work.
- Thank you for all you do as parents/guardians/families. Raising kids (albeit middle schoolers) is no small task. You are rockstars. Don't ever forget that!
- Thank you for trusting us and sharing your most precious people with us, every day. They are our "why" and we take pride in getting to be a contributing part of their lives.
Additionally, I'd like to share out the insightful and reflective words of a few of our students below. We recently heard from four of our 8th graders as they addressed their peers through National Junior Honor Society inductions. As we wrap up the school year, these words are applicable to all and signify a time for reflection and celebration. Please take a minute to celebrate the "wins" with your student as we close out the school year. These wins regardless of their magnitude or comparison, matter so much in the growth, development and self-efficacy of our students/your children. Thank you for all you do.
Our students are pretty amazing and here is one more example of that.
To our 8th grade families moving on to LHS or to other places, we wish you and your families all the best! To our 7th grade families, sorry, you're stuck with us for one more year and we'll see you in August!
A wonderful summer to each and every one of you. Thanks again for a great school year. We'll be back in August to resume our building Tiger Talks.
Go Tigers!

Second Step Social Emotional Learning
At LMS and across Loveland Schools, we want every child to be successful in school and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, students also need skills to take on learning challenges, make good decisions, handle strong emotions, and get along with others.
This week, LMS students continue with social-emotional learning through the Second Step program, a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve students’ social-emotional skills, such as emotion management, impulse control, problem-solving, and empathy.
Through our Tiger Talk, with the purpose of providing this information with our families, we will be communicating “Family Connections” regularly to communicate the social-emotional learning topic and summary as well as a potential question to ask your child at home to continue the learning and connection.
7th Grade SEL Second Step Family Connections
8th Grade SEL Second Step Family Connections
