Notes from Coach Mitchell
We concluded our 4th game week of the Fall sports season last week. As you have heard me say before, it is an exciting time to be a TCA Titan. I usually like to brag on the students and all of their activities, but this week, I want to take a brief moment and say a sincere thank you to all of our coaches. When I’m at an event, I not only watch our kids play, but I spend lots of time watching our opponents coaches coach. Our coaches have been very welcoming to me, but more importantly, they are doing a fantastic job teaching, coaching, and inspiring our student-athletes.
We have a busy week this week with home soccer, softball, and volleyball games throughout the week. Come be a part and cheer for all of our Titans!
Quote for the week: “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” - John Wooden

High School Sports News

This meeting will be held this Thursday right after school in the Cafeteria it will be a quick meet and greet with the coach gathering all your information for upcoming meetings and events.
Winter Sports Registration (Opening Soon!):
All registration requirements must be completed by 11/07/22 (one week prior to the first practice date of 11/14/22). Registration after this date must have special circumstances and approved by the Athletic Director. DO NOT BE LATE. Registration will open for High School Winter Sports (Men's and Women's Basketball, Wrestling) on 09/29/22.
- A current physical is required before the start of the Winter season and must be good through the sports season you are registering for.
- All forms can be found on the TCA Activities website.
- College Pathway students and other non traditional TCA students must be assigned to TCA each year – we have to have a new assignment letter signed by D20 – no exceptions. If you have participated in sports at TCA in previous years, this won’t be an issue, but we must have a form for the 2022-23 school year. You must also complete an Eligibility Form indicating grade for the previous semester and that you are taking enough credits in the current semester to participate in Athletics. Both of these forms will need to be uploaded by the Family to their sports registration.
- The activity fee is required to be paid, or have a payment plan set up, the day before the first competition (including scrimmage). It can be paid on-line through Infinite Campus, by calling Finance at 488-6237 or a check dropped off to the Finance Office. Please communicate with the Athletic Director if there are monetary issues.
REMINDER:
Per D20 policy, the only pets allowed on campus are certified service animals. This includes all outdoor after school activities.
Cross Country
The Tians ran at the 22nd annual St. Vrain Invitational at Lyons HS Saturday. Well over 50 schools participated, and TCA competed up in the 4a/5a schools' division against some of the best programs anywhere. The boys team finished 5th overall, led by Chandler Wilburn, who finished 7th individually, getting his first run under 16 minutes in Colorado. The girls were 8th; Cassidy McDonald led the Titans with a 23rd-place finish.
This week, the team will have two meets: the Coronado Cougar Classic, which is also the CSML championship meet, Thursday at Monument Valley Park. Friday, the varsity team will travel to beautiful Estes Park to compete in the Longs Peak Invite at Lake Estes Golf Course.
Men's Golf
The golf team completed the regular season with a second-place finish in the CSML North. This Thursday, they compete at the regional tournament at Walking Stick golf course in Pueblo. Please wish Nathan and Zac Valentine, Ryan Heiser, and Cage Fontana the best of luck. This tournament determines who qualifies for the state tournament in Windsor, Colorado on Oct 3, 4.
Football
The Titans return to the gridiron after a well-deserved off week. TCA travels across town to play the Sand Creek Scorpions at 7pm on Friday night. The Titans have some great memories at the “Scorpion Pit.” The last time TCA played there was in the 2020-21 season, the Titans won their first semi-final playoff victory to punch their ticket to play in the program’s first state title game. TCA is led by a talented group of 24 seniors, many of whom contributed in that big win 2 seasons ago.
Women's Softball
The softball team is coming down the home stretch as they have played 15 games and have 8 games remaining the next 3 weeks. Their spirits are high and they are determined to finish the season playing each game one game at a time. Their approach is that it takes everyone on the team to play to the best of their ability and it’s truly a team approach. Next week is Senior Night and the players are looking forward to the game against Mitchell as the Seniors will be recognized right after the game. Please come out and show your support!

VIEWING GAMES:
We are now up and running to view games via the nfhsnetwork! It is a subscription service so it won't be free like youtube. It is a monthly auto renew. It also gives parents and fans an opportunity to watch any sport across the country that uses the system. Only one usable device per subscription, so if shared, it won't allow multiple users at the same time.
