Term 2, Week 10, Tuesday 28th September 2021
It is nice to think that we are in the last week of term, with a two-week break from distance learning coming up. I know we will all be awaiting the decision on Monday about alert levels for the break with fingers crossed that we will have a little more freedom.
Sarah has a holiday programme all planned and ready to go once we go to Level 2. Please register your interest - no payment will be taken until we start. I did query whether there was any holiday cover provision for the students we have had in school for learning supervision, but the answer was no.
I just want to say thank you for all you have done to support your children in their learning over the last 7 weeks. We know it has not been easy but have been so impressed with the commitment of so many children to engage in their learning, the quality of what they have produced and their ability to adapt. Our teachers have once again refined their use of ZOOM and how to engage students in this digital format - the ‘face to face’ is always so valued. We are all hoping that we will be at level 2 for the start of Term 4 so school is open for students and they can then enjoy being with friends and classmates.

Examples of amazing learning at home
Poetry response to a Chinese myth - by Sahana (Rm 16)
The moon is shining down on me
And I can’t help but wonder
Is that a rabbit in the moon I see?
Pounding life elixir
I go to mother and as I ask, who is really up there?
She tells me a story, long from last about a hungry beggar
In disguise the emperor came, from the heavens bane
Watching in surprise as this rabbit jumped into the flames
“Eat my flesh” this rabbit said
To the hungry beggar,
Others had brought fruit and fish, without any bother
“I can only gather grass” the solemn rabbit said
“So please allow me to make my pass, and eat my flesh instead”
The beggar quickly became what he was meant to be
And took the rabbit to the heavens rather happily
The rabbit was gifted with the role,
Of pounding the elixir of life.
With his companion, the moon goddess
He lives free of any strife.

Kohia Kids Zone
The school holidays are approaching and we are happy to announce that we will be providing a Holiday Programme if we are under Level 2. Bookings are now open from Wednesday 6th October IF we do move to Level 2.
https://enrolmy.com/kts/book-now/5-T3-School-Holidays-In-Level-2
We have awesome activities planned with our themes Fantasy & Fairytales for week 1 and Outerspace for week 2. All of our activities will be run with level 2 precautions in mind. Our Trip Days are bookable, however please bear with us as we negotiate the safest approach to them as we get closer to the day. Your flexibility is appreciated.
As always, invoicing will happen in arrears following each week, if activities are cancelled due to level 3 or 4 you will not be charged. In the case that a trip day must be swapped for an in-house day due to level 2 restrictions, you will be charged non-trip day prices.
We understand that planning at this time can be difficult so if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out at afterschoolcare@kts.school.nz. I will happily answer any questions you may have.
As usual, we are offering a 15% discount for our early birds! Simply make your booking before the end of day Friday 1st October (last day of T3) and you will receive 15% off your booking!
