The winter season always challenges us with some inclement weather. Please remember that our “Global Connect” telephone program will alert you whenever there is a change in the school schedule due to weather issues. You can also log onto our district website: www.btboe.org Please refrain from calling the school phone number for closings and cancellations since these calls tie up our phone lines and prevent staff members from getting through to us with important messages.
Thank you for continuing to provide the teachers and staff of Bayville School with your support as we go about the very important task of educating your children.
PROJECT TEAM LEADERS
Student Absences and Tardiness
As a reminder, parents are requested to call (732)269-1300 x 4005 whenever your child is absent from school. You may also leave a message on the nurse’s voicemail the night before indicating your child’s name, teacher and reason for absence. According to our new attendance policy, all absences (even those phoned in) MUST be documented in a note from a parent or doctor brought to school by the student when he/she returns.
The first bell rings at 8:35 a.m. for kindergarten and preschool, 8:40 for first-fourth grade. Homeroom begins promptly at 8:50 a.m. Children arriving at 8:50 or later are tardy. Please make every effort to have your child to school on time. When students arrive late they are missing important instructional time and are also a disruption to the classroom. Your cooperation with timely attendance for your child is greatly appreciated. Also, school is in session until 3:05. Any students leaving early will be missing valuable classroom instruction.

BUS REMINDER & SCHOOL CONTRACT
BERKELEY TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
Attention all parents and guardians:
Student safety is always our number one priority. Just some important reminders when you see our Berkeley Township School District busses traveling throughout town:
Motorists should drive with extra caution around children going to/from school:
Obey signs, signals, and crossing guards in school zones.
Slow down especially with children walking/biking to school and around bus stops and in school zones and in low light or bad weather.
Learn and obey the school bus laws in your State.
Drive focused and alert at all times. Avoid use of electronic devices and other distracting behaviors while driving.
Ensure everyone in the vehicle is buckled up properly and that children are in the back seat in the proper seat.
Drop off so the child does not have to cross the street, and then avoid U-turns.
Look for and expect to see pedestrians and bicyclists, especially before and after school.
School bus riders are safest when children:
Stay three giant steps (six feet) away from the curb when waiting for the bus; and when the school bus arrives, wait until the driver says to board.
Quickly board the school bus, find a seat, sit facing the front, and do what the school bus driver and safety patrols say to do.
Getting off the bus, cross in front at least five giant steps (10 feet) away and look left-right-left for traffic. Wait for the driver to signal it is safe to cross
If you have a concern about the bus or and issue with students on the bus, please contact your school’s administration.
