Dear Hood River Valley High School Eagles,
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! We are so excited to welcome you all back to school this fall. The first day of school is getting closer, and this year will also bring about some changes. We will have an opportunity to share more about these changes at our welcome back session. Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer break, and please see below for a brief overview of important information.

Packet Pick up Information- August 26th & 27th- 7am-7pm
Downloadable forms will be available at HRVHS.com beginning August 25th.
Picking up and updating information is strongly encouraged so that we can have up-to-date information and a current and correct roster of returning students.
Only students or their parent/guardian can pick up a schedule and verify information.
Be prepared to verify the accuracy of your personal information, including emergency contact information.
Welcome Back Virtual Information Sessions Tuesday August 31st (5:30pm- English and 6:15-Spanish) : Learn about all of the COVID Safety Updates, and Trimester Schedule Details.

Brief Overview of some Safety Protocols include:
Students will self screen for COVID-19 Symptoms, and must stay home when ill.
All students and staff will wear daily face coverings for all indoor activities
All students and staff will need to follow 3 feet of physical distancing to the greatest extent possible when indoors.
All students and staff can be outdoors without face coverings.
Brief Overview Trimester Schedule
Classes will meet every day for about 70 minutes
Eagle Learning Learning Communities will be held 2 x per week for about a 20 minute time period.
We will continue with the Monday Late Start schedule.
Each Trimester is equal to .5 credits
Registration Day – September 7th: All students are required to attend
Students will pick up schedules, verify contact information, check out iPads, books and get your picture taken for an ASB card.
ASB card will be required to attend any school event.
Registration will take place outside, along the north side, and south side of the building, similar to last Fall’s process. This will be by grade-level and then alphabetically by last name. Start at the exterior by the preschool playground.
If you have multiple students, you can come at one time, but be aware that Change Arena is strictly by the class times listed below so that upper classes have the first choice of changes
Parents are encouraged to attend registration with their student(s), but it is not required.

Payments
We encourage payment of yearbook orders by check or cash, and payments may also be made online at any time by visiting HRVHS.com and following the site shortcut on the right hand side for “student fees”. We are unable to process credit card payments at school.
Registration Fee: none
2021-2022 Yearbook: $65 - (2020-2021 Yearbooks that were ordered can be picked up)
Orientation Day for Grade 9 and New Students: Wednesday, September 8th
Grade 9 8:20 am - 12:30 pm
Check-in in the Commons.
Buses will run a normal schedule.

First Day of Classes for 9th -12th – Thursday, September 9th
1st period starts at 8:20 a.m.
5th period ends at 3:10 p.m.
Supplies
HRVHS recommends that students show up for the first two days of classes on September 9 and 10 with a notebook with lined college ruled paper, a folder, pens, and pencils. Students will receive a syllabus from each instructor with detailed requirements and supplies for each class for the following week. Teacher syllabi will also be on each teacher page on the school website.
Meals
All students receive complete meals at no cost during the 2021/22 school year. A la carte items (milk, entrees only) will need to be purchased. You do not need to fill out an application to qualify for free meals.
Transportation
Phone calls are being made to gather accurate address information, and routes will be posted prior to the first day of school. For questions, you can contact the transportation department at 541-354-1388.
If you are unable to attend the Registration day or your student will not be returning to HRVHS, please contact our main office at 541-386-4500.
