Bareknuckle Prizefighting
The History of the English Prize Ring
The history of the English Prize Ring dates from about 1719 with the first recognized Champion of England, James Figg. As an interested follower of this subject I have so far written two books on the sport which evolved into the gloved version of boxing in about 1870. The two books being "Old Prize Fights in and around Berkshire" and "Famous Pugilists of the English Prize Ring 1719-1870".
