Slate Hill Stars Newsletter
September 2020
Dear Slate Hill Families,
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your warm welcome, and I look forward to getting to know all of you this school year. I wanted to thank the many families that attended our first zoom meeting about our remote learning plan. I also wanted to thank our amazing PTA for their support, help with the drive through and meet Mrs. Gulley event as well as providing lunch for our staff on their first day.
It is hard to believe that we have completed the first week of school, and our remote learning has begun! Our Slate Hill staff has been learning new tools, collaborating as a team and creating new engaging activities and lessons for your child this school year.
I will be sending newsletters out frequently with updates and information about the school year. As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions at jgulley@wscloud.org.
All the best,
Julie Gulley, Slate Hill Principal

Breaking News from our Cafeteria
From The Nurse
Hello Slate Hill families!
As we navigate our way into the 2020-2021 school year, I am still here for you and our students in whatever learning plan we are in. With that being said, I would just like to remind you of a few things.
An important part of providing a healthy learning environment when we return to school is ensuring our students’ immunizations are up to date. All students entering school will need to be up to date on vaccinations. I recently sent letters out to families whose student’s records indicate they are missing one or more vaccines. If your child has received the vaccines, you can drop documentation off to school, fax to 614-781-0120, send in with your student upon return, or email to me at dpiccinich@wscloud.org. If they still need the vaccines please reach out to their health care provider to schedule an appointment. If they do not have a health care provider, Columbus Public Health department is able to provide needed immunizations. You can find their days and hours of operation on their website at: https://www.columbus.gov/publichealth/programs/immunization-program/.
If our school mode moves to Hybrid or All-In, we will need emergency medications and supplies along with current doctor orders in the clinic, as usual. Any daily medications that cannot be given at home will also need current medication forms. You can locate health forms on the district’s website or by clicking here: https://www.worthington.k12.oh.us/domain/178. Health forms must be filled out annually.
During these times it is extremely important that you continue to take care of yourself. Be sure to eat a well balanced diet, move your body, get plenty of sleep, and don’t forget to wash your hands! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Hybrid Learning-Preparation, Tips and Tidbits
- Slate Hill will be a Nut Free school to ensure the safety of all students as we will be eating in our classrooms during hybrid learning.
- All students need their own set of school supplies since we will not be able to share school supplies during this time.
- It is also important that your child is comfortable wearing a mask over their nose and mouth as we will be required to wear them all day (unless they are eating lunch). We would like to suggest that they have a couple masks with them at school if possible.
- Students will need to be 6 feet apart as the enter and exit the building so we are asking parents to not drop off their students early or send them to the door prior to 8:00am.
- Also due to safety protocols, we will not be able to take any transportation changes after 2:15pm daily during school days so please plan accordingly.
- More information and videos will be shared shortly about our safety protocols during hybrid learning.
