Maltby Messenger
April 16th Edition
~A message from our Principal~
Dear Maltby Families,
Spring break is behind us and we are traveling through the end of the year! Teachers are busy preparing materials and connecting with students. Many families are adjusting to a new, “normal,” as is everyone else. I hope this letter finds you and your family well. As we navigate these times, please, if there is anything we can do to support you and your family, don’t hesitate to contact us. We understand situations change, therefore, needs change as well. We are here to help, just let us know. We appreciate your grace and understanding as we navigate this very fluid situation. As needs change so, too, does our response. We respond to the directives of both the Governor and the Superintendent of Public Instruction, Chris Reykdal. Navigating a pandemic is new for all of us and we are all learning each day!
If you need a Chromebook, please let us know. Delivery of Chromebooks will be available until 6 pm tonight at the high school. Also, we have information on acquiring internet service too. Login and password information is available from 9-1 from our Maltby office. Please contact us if you need anything (360)804-3500.
Lunch service continues to be available, Monday-Friday from 11:30 am-1:30 pm at Maltby. You may pick up lunch and/or a school packet for those of you who do not have internet services and need hard copies of school material. Staff will be checking in this week to see if you have a device as well as internet, or if you still need to obtain a device.
Below is a chart that indicates the minutes your child should spend on learning each day. They may do more than recommended but please encourage them to participate in the suggested minutes. Required learning times should not exceed the maximum guidelines listed below.
OSPI Maximum student commitment each day are as follows:
PreK: 30 minutes
K/1: 45 minutes
2/3: 60 minutes
4/5: 90 minutes
We have ten weeks of learning ahead and we know it will look differently than if our kids were in front of us. ☹ We miss them dearly. We are all in this together and are thinking of you and your family everday. Just a reminder, our office is open Monday-Friday from 9 am-1pm. If you have questions don’t hesitate to contact us.
Have an amazing weekend!!
Fondly,
Bonnie McKerney
