K-12 Information
Masking Procedure: As shared in previous district communications, NYS has NOT changed its guidance regarding masking. Therefore, students are still expected to bring a mask to school every day. However, we are able to adjust our masking procedure due to the extreme heat. Therefore, students and staff are able to remove masks when:
They are outside on school property during lunch, a class experience, during physical education classes, end of the year events, and in competition. Physical distancing of at least three feet should be observed while outside and unmasked.
They are also able to remove their masks inside our school classrooms when seated and physically distant (at least 3 feet) and the temperature is greater than 70 degrees. Students are asked to wait for teacher direction to remove their mask to make sure everyone is properly distanced.
Masks are to be worn By students and staff when:
Riding the school bus;
Transitioning in the hallways; and
When physical distance cannot be preserved.
Students and staff are encouraged to wear masks as much as possible. Contact tracing efforts consider masking protocols and social distancing when making decisions about quarantines.
Students are encouraged to bring in water bottles to refill throughout the day. We have water filling stations throughout the buildings. Thank you!
Elementary/Middle School (K-8) Schedule: The end-of-year schedule for elementary includes a new addition. Friday, June 18, 2021 is the date selected for the commemoration of Juneteenth, which is a day honoring the end of the last remnants of slavery in the United States in Texas. Wednesday, June 23 and Thursday, June 24, 2021 are designated as early dismissal days. The Middle School (Grades 5-8) dismissal will occur at 11:55 am, while the Elementary (K-4) will dismiss from school at 12:10 PM. Lunches will be served to students on both days. The last early dismissal day on 6/24, like in the past, is the last day for student attendance.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions. Please feel free to call or email us:

K-6 Summer Enrichment Programming
We anticipate there will be funds available to address learning loss programs with ACS beginning Summer 2021. Plans are underway for the development of a summer enrichment program for students, which would run from July 12th through August 5th. Sign-up forms will be available to families in mid-June. Initial course offerings include such topics as music production, teambuilding activities, strategy board games, embroidery, learn to play ukulele, and genius hour(s). A tremendous amount of additional information will follow, but we wanted to be sure families knew this was on the horizon for this summer.
Regents Examination Information
- General Information: Regents examinations will be administered from June 17th-June 24th. Only students taking a Regents examination should report to school after June 16th. New York State is requiring school districts to administer four Regents examinations. Students are expected to sit for the examinations, but will receive an exemption and Regents credit if the student passes the course. Therefore, due to the challenges brought about by COVID-19, students will not be held accountable for their performance on Regents examinations.
- Testing Schedule:
- June 17: 8:00am-11:00am: ELA
- June 22: 8:00am-11:00am: Living Environment
- June 23: 8:00am-11:00am: Algebra 1
- June 24: 8:00am-11:00am: Earth Science
- Bussing Information: Students should plan to only be in the building for their scheduled examination. There will be an 11:00am bus run on 6/17 and 6/22 for any student who needs transportation after the examination. On the 23rd and 24th the students will have to wait until 11:55am for the bus, as K-8 is 1/2 day these days. Students will ride their regular bus.
- Materials: Students should carry a backpack with the necessary materials for their examination. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle. Materials and cell phones will be stored in the front of the testing location during the examination.
