Traveling Timby
Timby traveled to Marisa for always being a great listening ear and being so positive. We can always count on her to see the positive in a situation, provide suggestions and have us laughing after we are done chatting.
Relationships
I read this just the other day and wanted to pass this along:
Consistency is the foundation on which trusting relationships are built. This consistent interaction between staff and students is critical to positive growth and behavior.
How can this look?
1. Meet and Greet
*Pleasantly acknowledge each student at the beginning of class
2. Interest Relating
*Become involved and enthusiastic about what they are in to.
3. Random Positive Connections
*Encouraging communication
4. Praise
*When they make a goal or behaves appropriately.
5. Utilize Appropriate Humor
*Light hearted moments build relationships
6. Teach Acceptable Behavior
*Use daily interactions to teach expected behavior and problem solving
7. Recognize Milestones
*Accomplishments and Efforts
8. Be Aware of Events
*Past or future events may impact behavior
9. Share Mealtimes
*Sit with students during lunch
10. Participate in Daily Activities
*Be positive and Energetic
11. Utilize Differential Reinforcement
*Acknowledge positive behavior and ignore inconsequential behavior (it takes approximately 15 positive comments to counteract 1 negative comment)
12. Positively Correct Behavior
*Provide direction and empower performance

Seesaw Shoutouts!
- Mrs. Anderson posted a video of her kiddos singing happy birthday to a student. What an awesome way to make a student feel special!
- Miss Gallo had an activity where her students watched a video of a seed growing and then had to respond about what they noticed or learned. A great way to incorporate science and writing!
- Many teachers sent messages, posted photos, etc. of Fun Run totals and encouraged parents to participate in supporting our schools PTO!
Counselor's Corner
It's the day....the day you have 15 or 30 extra minutes...it's Counseling day. You have been looking forward to this day, especially this week because...whoa. You get your students lined up and you walk down but Ms. Wetzel isn't there. Now you're thinking, "Where in the world is she now? I have been looking forward to this. I NEED this."
Sound familiar? If it doesn't, give it time as I am sure it will at some point. Please know I do my absolute best to be there for your scheduled Counseling lessons. If I know I will be out in advance, I will email you and get something rescheduled as soon as possible. However, sometimes things happen and rescheduling doesn't work out. Bummer, I know.
Most of my days consist of delivering my core curriculum (counseling lessons) but if I am not in my room, there is a reason. Trust me, I did not forget and decide to eat lunch instead or kick my feet up somewhere. If I am not in my room for your scheduled lesson, I was needed elsewhere. I ask that you give me 5 minutes and if I am still not there, head back to your classroom. Please don't call the office to have them radio me. If I am available, I will be there.
I appreciate your support!
We have been going over Zones of Regulation with all grade levels. Just a reminder:
Blue: running slow
Green: good to go *where we do out best learning*
Yellow: Caution ("bubbling")
Red: Out of control ("erupted" or "flipped our lid") *Letting our emotions control us vs. us controlling our emotions*
Attached you will find a visual you could use. Some of the emotions, like anxious, could be in the yellow zone or the red zone depending on the intensity of the emotion. You will also find The Feelings Volcano visual which I reference to a lot.
