Sparling Newsletter
Oct. 15, 2020
Dear Families,
Lots of exciting things are happening in Sparling School! Our partnership with the Camrose Kodiaks has started and this year we have gone virtual. Some of our classes are working hard to track their reading and physical activity to earn a prize from the Camrose Kodiaks. As well, we are participating in a virtual visit from the team where students are able to ask questions, read a book, and even take a tour of the dressing room.
The colder weather is fast approaching and we just want to remind families to ensure your child(ren) is coming prepared for the weather. Toques, mitts, coats, and boots will be needed soon!
Thank you to everyone who is ensuring they are using our crosswalk. This is helping set a good example for our students and keeps Sparling safe. Please make sure you are using the sidewalks to access our entrances to the school instead of our staff parking lot. We do have a lot of staff coming and going at various times and want to ensure students are not walking through the parking lot at any time.
Please read ahead in the newsletter to find information regarding report cards, Halloween, parent/teacher conferences, and learning ideas for at home!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gutmann

Halloween
- Students need to be INDEPENDENT with their costume and this includes going to the bathroom.
- Students need to arrive in costume and we encourage minimizing any accessories as we want to make sure all items make it safely home for the weekend
- Keep costumes simple so students can move freely during recess and gym
- At this time we ask that no inflatable costumes are sent
Lastly, we ask that no treats are sent to share with friends or with the class at this time. We will be providing a couple pre-packaged treats for our students to enjoy on behalf of the Sparling Staff.
Thank you for your support and understanding! Stay tuned for more information regarding how Sparling School will be sharing pictures in lieu of a Halloween Parade.
Parent Teacher Conferences & Report Cards
Report Cards will be going home on Nov. 10 for our Grade 1 - 5 students and will focus on Numeracy & Literacy at this time. Kindergarten students' first report card will be in the second quarter.
