Can I Be Electric Too?

Bethany Owens

My family; I am grateful to have such a loving and supportive family in my life. It means the world to me. Thank you for encouraging me to follow my dreams.

Courtney; I don't know what I'd do without you. Literally. I'm never bored when we're together.Thank you for crying and laughing with me (even when it's stupid). Thank you for being my best friend. And platonic life partner.

Theatre family; Even though we all come and go. Theatre is a constant. I'm so glad that I am a part of this world. Where I can go to one place, and know that someone understands me. I met incredible people, and made wonderful friends. Thank you for giving me a safe place to express myself.

"Nobody Knows Me" by The Weepies (2:00)

This song describes how I feel at this point in my life. I'm not quite sure where I'm going. I don't know what I want. Sometimes, I don't even know who I am.

"My Life" by Best Coast (2:11)

Best Coast understands my teen angst. I would have picked all of their songs, but this is one of my favorites. Thank you BC for getting me though the worst of it.

"Devil's Spoke" by Laura Marling (6:30)

Laura Marling is one of my favorite singer/songwriters. This is one of my absolute favorites. Folk with Indian influence is beautiful. I always feel good after listening to this song.

"Breezeblock" by Alt-J (3:48)

This was the song we wanted Alt-J to play in the beginning. It was so worth it in the end, though. Thank you Phoebe.

"Lipstick" by Ariel Pink (3:22)

Because I love the creepy 80s vibe. Seriously, there's no other reason.

"I Could Give You All That You Don't Want" by The Twilight Sad (4:18)

I just found this song recently. It is my jam. Also, the singer has a Scottish accent.

"She's Electric" by Oasis (3:41)

I'm in love with this song. It's bouncy, fun, and reminds me of my really good friend. Maybe I'll be just as electric as her one day.

"Come As You Are" by Civil Twilight (4:21)

I love this cover. Nirvana is good too, but this version is intense. Almost poetic in it's sound.

This song gives me hope. It reminds me that my days won't all be bad. I can still be a dreamer.
