Bear News!
Way to Go Bears!! Showing the BCE Way!- October 13th
Message from the office.
Hello BCE Community
I hope everyone has a great 3 day weekend. I wanted to let you know that we will be moving to newsletters from the office every other week. So the following newsletter will be on 10/28.
The Halloween costume parade on 10/31 will be uppers at 9:00 am. Please note that students will NOT be able to have any weapon (even if plastic), masks that cover the face, or costumes that will be a distraction in class (i.e., blow-up costumes)Please note this is all day including the parade. Each classroom will be doing individual parties in the afternoon. Please reach out to your teacher if you want to support them. We are excited to have this event again after being unable to celebrate for a few years.
Each classroom will also do a door decorating contest and a pumpkin carving contest the week of October 24th. Thank you to the Parent Club for helping fund the pumpkins.
As always, please let us know if you need anything. Have a great weekend
Mrs. Fippin and Office Staff
Attendance Update-
We do not want your children to come to school when they are ill, but if they aren’t sick, it is important for them to be present regularly. There are several negative long-term and short-term consequences of chronic absenteeism on academic achievement. Missing more than 10% of the school year puts your child at risk of falling behind due to missing crucial instruction time.
California Education Code recognizes only the following reasons as excused absences: personal illness, religious holidays; medical or dental services; serious family emergencies; and/or school suspension. Family vacations are not excused unless prior arrangements are made with the office and your child's teacher for an independent study (3 and 10 days maximum). Calling the attendance line and stating, "this is a parent-verified absence," does not mean it is excused. All other absences will be recorded as unexcused. This also applies to tardies and being late more than thirty minutes without a valid reason. Oversleeping and traffic are not excused for tardies. These are not just rules. They are laws!
Attendance Line: 831-338-2887 (Available 24 hours a day!)
When your child is absent, you must call the attendance line and leave a message.
Please state the following information in your message:
First and last name of the student
Date and period of the absence(s)
The specific reason for the absence
Phone number where the parent can be reached
You may also call or stop by the main office to report an absence. Failure to clear absences will result in absences being marked as unexcused, and after 3 unexcused absences, attendance letters will be mailed out, and we are currently preparing letters for mailing. As unexcused absences accumulate, you may be referred to the School Attendance Review Board.
