Meet the Instructor:
My name is Laurin Billings, some of you may recognize me from day camp, as I have worked there the past 5 summers and am back and excited for yet another one! I will be working as the head of adventure camp this year, so I will luckily have the opportunity to get to know your children outside of dance class!
I am currently a senior at UNC Charlotte majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Dance. Before I began attending UNC Charlotte, while in high school, I worked as the assistant dance instructor at The Dance Place in Sparta, NC for 3 years. This is where I fell in love with teaching dance and working with children. In 2011, after making my move to UNC Charlotte, I began teaching dance at a wonderful studio only a few miles from campus called Dance Fever Charlotte. I have taught there throughout the school year for two years now and plan to return for a third year next fall. Last year, I also had the opportunity of being on two different performance based dance teams. I was a part of the 2012 Carolina Force Football Dance Team as well as the Charlotte Hounds Lacrosse Dance Team. I have been in multiple performances at UNC Charlotte and have devoted many hours per week to studying the art form in classes. Through my experience, I have become proficient in teaching all of the following: ballet, tap, hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, child's acrobatics, leaps and turns, and stretch class.
I am thankful for the opportunity, and very excited to be teaching dance classes in Roaring Gap Club this summer. I can't wait to see everyone there!
