Suwanee has New Teammates...Meet and Greet them on Tuesday, May 10!

On Tuesday, the teachers new to Suwanee will join us in the Jaguar Cafe for a meet and greet at 4:15. If you are on campus and would like to extend a warm welcome, exchange phone numbers, and get to know them, please come to the Jaguar Cafe. This will not be a formal meeting. It is a drop in opportunity for you all to get to know your team for next year.

*Updated Staff Roster and Map will be sent out on Monday, May 9.

Oh Say Can You See...

The Suwanee Jaguar Chorus did an outstanding job singing the Star Spangled Banner at the Gwinnett Braves game on Friday night. They sounded like professionals as they hit all of the notes and sang on key. Thank you to Mr. Moore for his direction and leadership of our choral program at SES. Great job!

Great Job Team Suwanee!

Kindergarten Registration was a success! We served 79 families and screened 59 students. It was a true team effort. A special thanks to Jill, Dee Dee, Mary, Ronda, Mickey, Dana, Mellda, Kelly, Dorothy, PTA, Christi, Kathy, Michelle, Antonio, Nathaniel Anderson (Eagle Scout), Ryan, Melissa, Meaghan, Hailey, Joyce, Hannah, Sharifa, and all who volunteered and pitched in to make this process smooth for our families. Suwanee Has IT! Suwanee Has YOU!

Suwanee Staff,

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making our first STEM day a wonderful success! The energy, the excitement and the engagement of all of our Suwanee students was a delight to witness. I thank you for your dedication in getting the students excited about STEM and reaching out to your parents to make sure we all had the materials we needed for the day. Most importantly, I thank you for being open to try something different with your students and your willingness to allow the students to explore, create and test their own designs. It was a great day and I am truly grateful for your work in making it run as smooth as possible.

A special thank you to Soo and Meaghan for all of your help in planning and organizing! I couldn't have done it without you!

Thank you!

Hilary :)

Teaching and Learning Conference

On June 16-17, K-12 teachers of all content areas will participate in the second annual GCPS Teaching and Learning Conference (TLC). Last year, we hosted more than 900 teachers at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center for the conference. This year, we expect more than 1,000 teachers to attend! The conference will be held from 8 AM - 4 PM on both days. Teachers will be able to choose the sessions that best meet their needs. Conference strands include:

Instructional Transformation/Differentiated Instruction

Academic Knowledge and Skills

Instructional Leadership

Formative Assessment

Special Education

Registration for TLC will be open via the Portal under Tools\2016 Teaching and Learning Conference. Sessions for the conference will be selected on site.

EOY Checklist

The EOY Checklist for every faculty and staff member on the team at Suwanee. This year we are streamlining a few of our check in processes and tasks to simplify closing out the year. These changes reflect in how you check in technology and review the permanent records. As you complete each item, outlined on the checklist or month-at-a-glance calendar, please secure the initials of the person who receives information or materials from you.

Despite the wonderful helpers that we have, please refrain from allowing or asking students to assist you in packing. As you know from years past, we need to maintain an environment conducive to new learning each day until the students dismiss for summer on May 25.

If you have any questions, please see Ms. Brown-Townsend, Ms. Martinez, or Ms. Keag.

Substitutes-Action Required

Every employee is expected to secure a substitute for their position, whether it is a half day or a full day. The sub must post to your position to fill the request. Splitting classes is not desirable for your teammates or students, and we do not have the staff in the front office to cover classes or call subs for individuals. Every employee must follow the leave process. If you have questions about this process (explained during pre planning), please see Ms. Brown-Townsend immediately. It is a professional expectation that employees have coverage when they are out of the building. If you need to submit a request any time after 10:00 PM prior to your absence, then you must call my cell phone directly and email me. My number is listed on the phone tree in C&I. Thank you for taking the necessary steps for Team Suwanee when you need to be out of the building so teaching and learning remain the focus at our school.
