Christmas at SMS
Christmas Concert Highlights
SMS celebrated Christmas together with the school community on December 12th, with two concerts, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. Thank you Grade 7 and 8 Concert Bands, and Grade 6 Recorder Ensemble, for your excellent performances. You definitely got us in the Christmas spirit! Many thanks to Mr. Markus Goertzen, Band and Music Instructor, for all the hard work he put into preparing the students to perform for us.
Thank you to the Art Classes for the decorations that were created and displayed in the foyer and gym . Your beautiful work added to the festive feeling. Thanks also to Mrs. Annette Loewen, Art Instructor, who guided these students in this work.
We love to showcase all the Arts in our school - music and band as well as creative art!
Thank you to all the students who put their best into their performance as well, and to our parents who support our students in these achievements.
Helping Hands
Some students had the opportunity to go to Southeast Helping Hands to help pack Christmas hampers. What a wonderful experience for them to see the process of how to fill hampers, what goes into a hamper, and to be aware that there are families in our community that have need of this service. Our community is fortunate to have so many helping hands, and we were excited to have been able to be a few of them!
Thank you!

Thank you for supporting our Book Fair!
The SMS Scholastic Book Fair was a great success - we sold over $3100!! This will give our school many free books to add to our library. Thank you so much for your support! Thanks also to Mrs. Monkman, Mrs. King, Mrs. Desautels and Ms. Lavallee and all the students who helped out at the Fair.

Parent Advisory Council Continues with Fundraising for Activity Structure
Chase the Ace
Rules and Regulations of Chase the Ace:
Participants buy five-dollar tickets and are entered in a draw. SMS PAC Organizers select one ticket from the pool, and the winner automatically gets 20 per cent of the money that's been raised that evening. Meanwhile, 50 per cent of the money goes to our Activity Structure Fund, and the remaining 30 per cent is added to the building jackpot.
In addition to winning 20 per cent of the money, the winning-ticket holder is invited to draw a card from a standard 52-card deck. If they draw the ace of spades, they win the jackpot.
The game continues (every Monday night at Smitty's, except for Monday, January 21st) until the ace of spades is drawn. Who knows how big the jackpot could get??
Please come out, have a little bit of fun and a chance to win some money AND help our Fundraiser out at the same time!
See you at Smitty's Monday nights at 7 pm!!
