Thank you to all of our Kendall Volunteers
We would like to take this opportunity to give a heartfelt thank you to our Kendall PTA and all they have done this year to support our school. From our welcome back teacher gifts and amazing teacher appreciation week to all of the amazing opportunities for our students including the parties and classroom resources you provide to our students and all of the pieces in between, you have provided all of our Patriots with adventures in learning and opportunities for community building that we would never be able to do on our own and we truly thank you!
We would like to take a moment to recognize our PTA Board Members. Thank you for your years of support and for the time and energy you poured into our school and our students. We are better because you were a part of our school team!
Brooke Cook, 2020-2021 PTA President
Melissa Arndt, 2020-2021 Vice President
Laura Fry, 2020-2021 Secretary
Dawn O'Brien, 2019-2020 Treasurer
End of Year Material Returns
Classroom teachers will be sharing a list of materials that need to be returned to school in the coming weeks. Please review this list for learning supplies that need to be returned.
Remote students will return their learning materials, including chromebooks and cords, on Monday, June 7th during the morning. This drop off will be by grade level so that students will have the opportunity to see their classroom teachers. Specific details coming soon but please pencile in the following times:
Kindergarten 8:15-8:35
1st Grade 8:35-8:55
2nd Grade 8:55-9:15
3rd Grade 9:15-9:35
4th Grade 9:35-9:55
5th Grade 9:55-10:15
In-Person Attendance
While it may seem easy for students to switch back and forth between remote and in-person it does diminish the learning experience for all students because time is spent ensuring students have the right materials in the right format, regrouping students, etc. To provide greater consistency for students and staff we will be following these guidelines:
For families who wish to keep their child home for other reasons other than illness or quarantine (vacation, tournament, positivity rates, appointment), our schools have been deemed safe and are open. We expect students to attend school. If your child is not able to come in-person, they also should not attend via Zoom (with the exception of quarantine or illness). You may switch them to remote but they must remain remote for the remainder of the year.
Our goal is to provide the best learning experience possible for every student. Consistency of in-person attendance is an important piece of student growth. We are grateful for your commitment to providing this consistency.

Parent Connect Program
Being a new family to a new school can be overwhelming! With so much information to learn, whether it’s the drop off/pick-up car line or navigating through extra-curricular activities, sometimes it helps to have another parent to connect with.
Please let us know if you are available to connect with a new family joining the Kendall Community. Please also consider if you are fluent in another language so that we can partner you with a family who speaks that language. You will have access to a handbook containing items to review with the family.
Sno Problems Shaved Ice Trailer
Let’s celebrate the last day of school with some shaved ice! Stay tuned to find out the time and location of this downtown Naperville-based trailer, which will be parked in the neighborhood around our school to serve students and their families and friends on Friday, June 4th!
Supply Kits
School supply kits for 2021-22 are now available to order! Conveniently get everything your Patriot needs for school next year! Visit www.carlsonschoolkits.com to order now. Under city click “Naperville” and select “Kendall Elementary.” Ordering closes on 6/13.
Pictures for 5th Grade Slideshow
We are still in need of many pictures for the 5th grade end-of-year slideshow! We don’t want any student to be left out! PLEASE send a kindergarten and a fifth grade picture of your child to ojkelementary@gmail.com. Use the subject line of “Individual Pictures- student last name, student first name.” We will be following up with any families who have not submitted pictures.
