Principal's Message
Dear LaSalle II Families-
We are excited to announce that we have increased our in-school testing to 76%! Thank you to all the staff who helped to make individual phone calls last week.
We have also created a short video to show you how the testing works. Click the link below! A special thank you to 1st grader Jayce W. for letting us film you taking the test.

Remote Learning Clarifications
For grades PreK, students will have live virtual instruction for 60 minutes. For K-5, students will have live instruction for Math, ELA, and World Language. There may be additional time that the teacher needs students to be live, so they will send out individual schedules. For grades 6-8, students are live for Math, ELA, Social Studies, Science, and World Language. Auxiliary will be live when the entire homeroom is flipped and asynchronous when individual students are quarantined.
Please keep in mind that students will NOT be on a screen for the entirety of a school day. synchronous work will still be provided as necessary. Teachers are engaging in synchronous teaching, not remote teaching, as there are students still in-person. This is a shift from what occurred last school year, as we provided more minutes per the state requirement due to being fully remote most of the school year.
CPS Covid Self-Report Form
If your child is a close contact to a positive case, please contact administration with a copy of the positive test. This is required in order for your child to receive remote learning.
Student Covid Testing
If you are interested in having your child participate in testing, please follow the link below and complete the registration process. A parent or guardian must register any minor under 18 years old, and you’ll give a one-time consent and HIPAA authorization to share your child’s results with the school and district.
Testing is optional for students, except for unvaccinated and partially vaccinated student athletes. Testing will take place during regular school hours and results will be available in 24 to 48 hours. Color Health will follow up with you directly if the pool in which your child participated has a positive result.
We strongly encourage all students, especially those who are unvaccinated, to participate in testing.
Vaccination Records
In the event of an exposure to a positive COVID-19 case at the school, vaccinated individuals will not be quarantined if they are asymptomatic. In order to avoid your child being flipped to remote while the CPS contact tracing investigates the case, we strongly recommend that you submit a copy of the vaccination records. The records will be added to your child's school health file and will help to expedite the contact tracing process. To submit a copy of your child’s vaccination card, please submit to our school nurse Joanna Saa at jsaa1@cps.edu. You can send a hard copy to school with your child if you prefer. They should give it to their homeroom teacher who will give it to the main office where the school nurse will enter the form into Aspen.

A Glimpse at Our Fourth Graders - “We are making Progress”
These students are learning to say, read and act out 44 Chinese phrases. They seem fearless as they approach this task. These students have learned to use their mind to synthesize the sounds, shapes of the characters and corresponding actions associated with these words and phrases. For them learning Chinese is no longer illusive. Their secrets of making progress is being focused in class and putting in real effort. There are three brand-new students in this picture, who transferred in just this school year. They became quickly integrated into the class and soon became active participants.
Great job 4th graders!
