Update from the Principal
Dear Talley Street Community,
Congratulations! You made it through the first week of virtual learning! I hope everyone had a great week! Below is some information that I would like to share with you. As things settle down, the school will only be sending out eBlasts on Monday. Below is some information that needs to be shared today. Thank you all for your support this week! We will continue to fine tune our processes to make sure that virtual learning goes as smoothly as possible. Have a great weekend! Go Tigers!
A Message from CSD’s Curriculum and Instruction Department
Principal's Town Hall
In an effort to provide communication with our parents and guardians and answer any questions that are coming up during this time of virtual learning, I will be holding monthly virtual town hall meetings via Zoom. The town hall will be similar to the ones held by the school district. During this first town hall meeting, I will also be sharing information on the Title 1 Targeted Assistance Program at Talley Street. Tiffany Lundy, Talley’s Title 1 teacher, will be joining me during the town hall. Below is a Google document for you to list questions that you would like answered. The town hall will be held next Thursday, August 27th from 6:00-7:00.
Google Classroom and Google Meets
In response to parent feedback, below are some changes we are making organizationally to help with confusion on Google Classroom and Google Meets. We will also discuss this at the town hall on Thursday.
Every student will now be receiving either a weekly or daily schedule from their teacher in their homeroom Google Classroom.
The purpose of this schedule is to bring clarity to the expectations surrounding where students are to look for their activities and meetings throughout the day.
To bring uniformity to the Google Meets expectations, we will be implementing the following.
All homeroom meetings will be accessed using the meet in the homeroom teacher's Google Classroom banner, as indicated on the schedule.
All other live Google Meets (specials on Wellness Wednesday, SEE-Learning, Spanish live sessions, small groups with support teachers) will take place using the "nicknames" feature of Google Meets.
The nickname for each Google Meet will be shared by your child's teacher on their weekly or daily schedule.
Click here for instructions on joining Google Meets using nicknames.
Please remember that you can visit https://virtual.csdecatur.net/tech-help for answers to common questions, and to submit a tech support request.
This is also posted on the Media Center Google Classrooms for student access.
