pH
Bases, Acids, and Buffers
- Bases: Solutions that are above 7 ph (8 to 14), measured as alkalinity (basic), and taste bitter as well as being slippery.
- Acids: Solutions that are below 7 ph (0 to 6), measured as acidity, and taste sour.
- Buffers: Things that are used to balance the pH back to 7 in a solution.
- If combined: bases and acids will go through the process of neutralization where if both are around equal on their side then the solution created will have a pH of 7 or neutral (water with nothing in it is neutral).
