Neil Armstrong

Who is Neil Armstrong?
Neil Armstrong was born on August 5th, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. When Armstrong was about six years old, his interest in airplanes and the mechanics of flight grew rapidly. When Neil was about eight years old, he started to build modle airplanes out of paper and basla wood. When Neil turned 16, he earned his piolt's license which eventually landed him in the united states navy.
Armstrong was in his thrid semester in college when he was called to active duty in the Korean war. During the war, Armstrong was hit while flying a F9F Panther and had to eject from the airplane and had only minor injuries. After Armstrong graduated from college, he became a research pilot for NASA's Lewis Center. On September 17, 1962, Neil Armstrong became a NASA astronaut. Neil Armstrong also commanded Apollo 11, which goal was to be the first people to walk on the moon, and Neil Armstrong was the first ever! After Armstrong retired from being a NASA astronaut, he later became a professor at the university of Cincinnati Ohio. Armstrong later passed away on August 25th, 2012, in Cincinnati, Ohio. His legacy still lives on today and always will.
