Who Was Thomas Edison?
Thomas Edison was born February 11, 1847, Milan, Ohio. He was a American inventor and business man. He invent many things that we still use to this day.
Younger Years
Thomas Edison's Mother was a huge influence in his life. She encouraged him and helped all through his younger years even when he had scarlet fever Scarlet Fever left difficulties in his ears. This would eventually leave him deaf as a adult. But that wouldn't stop him from doing what he wanted to do. At age 11 he showed a appetite for knowledge, like reading books on a wide range of subjects.

Being almost deaf didn't stop Thomas Edison. It encouraged him to show people if you have a disability it doesn't stop you from achieving your goal. When Thomas failed over 1000 times he still kept on trying until he achieved what he was doing. He sometimes didn't sleep for weeks at a time until he was done doing what he was doing.
