Happy New Year

WBS AIG Happenings for the New Year.........

AIG Testing is currently taking place for many 3rd graders, and some 4th and 5th grade students. This is continuing all this week (January 6-10, and next week). 4th and 5th classes will resume as normal the week of January 21st. 3rd Grade classes will initiate the first week in February. K-2 Nurturing will also kick back into gear the week of the January 21st.

Please continue to check the webpage as I will continue to update any assignments and/or information for the students.

Congratulations to many students who qualified for the DUKE TIP Program. 41 4th and 5th grade students obtained a qualifying score above 95% on a standardized test - EOG, Cog At, IOWA just to name a few. WBS is so proud of our students hard work!! The link below explains in detail the DUKE TIP program. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me.

Mathletes will be an optional after school club beginning Tuesday, January 21st from 2:15-3:00. 4th and 5th grade students scoring above 97% on a standardized test (EOG, IOWA, Cog At, etc) will be invited to join Mathletes. More information will be sent home soon to the students meeting this qualification.

What is Mathletes? An academic math club for high achieving, highly motivated 4th and 5th graders which will increase exposure to mathematics, critical thinking, inquiry-based mathematical research projects, complex problem solving, and STEM careers in order to foster the love of mathematics, challenge students, and offer opportunities to participate in local, state, national, and international mathematics competitions. Another goal of this club is to provide gifted learners the chance to socialize and work with their intellectual peers, under the guidance of mentors who understand the social, emotional, and academic needs of AIG students.

During the Mathletes meeting, the math problems we will practice are from the following site...
