Literacy
This week we worked on the letter Xx and Yy. We sang our ABC chant, played Hickety Tickety to identify letters in our name, and practiced handwriting both uppercase and lowercase of each of the letters. Have your child practice writing Xx and Yy at home with markers, crayons, or a pencil!
Math
Bears
Gym Shoes
A friendly reminder from Mrs. Carter and Mr. Prose:
Students at Crestview have Phy-Ed almost every day! Please be sure that your child comes prepared with tennis shoes in order to participate in class.
Winter Weather
Many students have been coming to school without gloves/mittens or hats. Please make sure your child has warm clothes for when they play outside for Recess.
We've been working on being more responsible with keeping track of our winter clothes. We put our gloves/mittens and hat in our jacket sleeves when eating lunch. I know most cases the glove or mitten was misplaced while here at school. Please help remind your children to check if they have all their warm clothes.
Star of the Week
When your child is Star of the Week, I will send home a poster the week before for them to complete. They can draw pictures or use real pictures. Please have them return the poster the following Monday for sharing. For that week they will be line leader and calendar helper. On Friday of that week they can bring in *one show and tell item to share with the class.
Red Folders and PARP Books
Please continue reading the books from the PARP book bags. Practice rereading, retelling, sequencing events in the story, making connections, and writing their favorite part.
Math Night
Stuffy Season
I've noticed a lot of stuffy noses, couching, and drowsiness here at school. It's hard trying to do your best when you're not feeling well. Please encourage washing hands, coughing into arm, and practicing how to blow your nose at home. We're trying to stop the spread of germs so that we can all feel better again!
Thanks for your support!
Supplies in Need
- White Paper Plates
- Candy Hearts (with words on them)
- Stickers (we're making sticker stories in writer's workshop)
- Crayola Twistables (for literacy centers)
- Alphabet stamps (for literacy centers)
Thanks for the donations you've sent in already!
Birthdays
At Crestview Elementary School we take time during morning announcements to highlight students who are celebrating their birthdays. This includes announcing their names and grade levels over the school wide intercom system. If for any reason you do not want your child’s name and birthday announced, please reach out to Janet Ellis, Office Coordinator, in our front office and she will make note of the request.
A reminder that due to life threatening allergies students should not be bringing birthday treats to school this year.
