About Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd president of the United States. He served as Secretary under George Washington in 1790. Soon after that in in 1780 he became the president. Jefferson has served our country for five years as public official, historian, philosopher, and plantation owner. During his presidency he supported the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark Expedition (monticello.org).

Thomas Jefferson had a vision of a republican society which encompasses governmental, cultural, educational, and societal institutions and activities. These systems were to be reformed and molded into an ideal republican society as a model for America and Europe. Another part of his vision was to expand America.
