Weekly Update 10-27-19
Joan MacQueen Middle School
Principal Message
Dear JMMS Families,
It was a dry and windy week at Joan MacQueen, though we were all a little on edge, it is now in our rearview mirror. Our Cross Country team did an outstanding job down at LCC. Next week is our last meet for the season and we are looking forward to leaving the rest of east county in the dust.
Next week is Red Ribbon Week as well as Halloween and ASB has some cool activities planned for the week (See Below). Thursday is Halloween and please take a peek at our expectations for costumes.
Next week we are switching lunches and our 7th and 8th grade students will eat during "A" lunch 11:17 am - 12:03 pm. Our sixth graders will eat from 12:06 pm - 12:53 pm. We are 1/4 of the way through the school year and we are striving to continuously improve and provide support to all students. This will not result in a schedule change for your child only a change in the time they eat lunch.
Students have completed the first quarter of the school year. Teachers have spent the last week inputting final grades. On the day the report cards are to be sent home we will notify parents. Students who earn grades lower than a C should try and attend a parent-teacher conference to set a plan for the second quarter to get students back on track. We are finalizing our plan for the conference week that will start on November 18th. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 and conferences will begin at 12 pm. We will host one evening event on Wednesday, November 20th for parents who can't attend the afternoon conferences.
