Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBiS) at Hillside
March Highlight:
Recognizing Positive Behavior
Students who demonstrate positive behavior at school are recognized with verbal praise ("Thanks for saying okay and doing that right away"), Tiger Tickets (with which students can enter drawings for prizes in the classroom and school-wide), and Positive Office Referrals (students come down with a referral that states their positive behavior and office staff celebrates them, calls home, and posts on Twitter). Students benefit from receiving recognition for their efforts to do the right thing. The Hillside staff loves to recognize and praise positive behaviors in our students!
PBiS Skill of the Week
- Look at your task or assignment
- Think about the steps needed to complete the task
- Focus all your attention on the task
- Stop working only when instructed
- Work to ignore distractions and interruptions by others
Our school works on different skills weekly; students can practice this every day!
