The Puma Paw
A Pinebrook community information source
October 2, 2022
Hello Puma Families!
The Fun Run and Puma Olympics were terrific! The community's support has been incredible! We have stepped off on the right foot by instilling the values of teamwork, community, and sportsmanship with our students while creating a path to support the learning at Pinebrook. We couldn't make it happen without you. You even made it to the Fall Fest during the remnants of a hurricane! You are the best. We're so fortunate to have our community. Thank you!
Pumas That Pounce
We need to recognize the many people that made the Fun Run, Puma Olympics, and Fall Fest happen. These people put in many hours of brainstorming, excitement, and planning to create the extraordinary events of this past week. For the Fun Run, we give a big shout-out to Rita Israni and her crew of PTA fundraisers for creating excitement and energy that made the Fun Run a total success. Check out the Den Rally we had on Wednesday to see how we kicked things off. Click here. And Lindsay Searle, Emma Moores, and Catherine Zumwalt followed up with an incredibly fun Fall Fest. A big thank you to the Kirkpatrick Farms HOA for the partnership to make this event successful. We loved it. Lastly, we need to recognize the efforts of Pinebrook's PE team of Kara Hallet and Tom Holland. They organized a two-day event for over 900 students full of fun and teamwork and helped our students create healthy habits. Thank you all!

- ATTENDANCE! We've noticed that many families have taken trips of a week or more since the start of school. We value family time, truly, we do, but part of Pinebrook's accreditation comes from meeting the 95% attendance rate requirement set by the Commonwealth of VA. Please plan family trips around breaks in the school year or an extended weekend. Each day of learning is critical. Thank you!
- Anytime that you come to Pinebrook, please bring your ID. We can not let you into the building without identification.
- Miss the Tuesday Talk last week? Check it out by clicking here. We gave an overview of the Personalized Learning program at Pinebrook.
Pinebrook Provides
Throughout the year, Pinebrook students and families may need assistance with various items, such as school supplies, clothing, sports equipment and fees, yearbooks, holiday gifts, etc. For some families, this is a heavy burden. Within a large group of Care Network volunteers, small contributions made on an as-needed basis can make a huge difference. You can help make learning a much easier and rewarding experience for our students who need it most. Please click the flyer below for more information and to sign up. There is no obligation to support. Please feel free to contact the Pinebrook Family Liaison, Rachel Chintala, at rachel.chintala@lcps.org with any questions.

Remember, when you come to school...
- When you come to school, it's essential to be in the habit of three things:
- Make an appointment
- Have your ID;
- Have your phone, especially if you are tardy, picking up, or returning a child to school, as we use an electronic form to record the child's return. You will access the form via a QR code scanned by your phone.
