November Vibes....Thankful and Grateful
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Please remember tomorrow, Monday, November 9th is an asynchronous virtual learning day. The asynchronous means that there will not be zooms or live teaching during this time. Students are still required to log into Schoology and complete any assignments for their classes. Attendance will be taken by students logging into Schoology and completing the Attendance SEL check-in. Please look for more information from your student’s teachers regarding the asynchronous assignments.
We would like to welcome back all of our Mustangs that are returning to campus for the first time this school year! There are quite a few things that are different this year to help try to keep us safe. There is a single flow of traffic in the hallways, you will see arrows for each grade level, red for 6th-grade, white for 7th-grade, and blue for 8th-grade. Parents, students in band and/or athletics should be dropped off in the staff parking lot, this is the lot off of FM 967 close to the gyms and band hall. All other students get dropped off in the parent loop. This is the loop that is close to the track and football field. Please pull up in the loop to help expedite student drop-off. The building opens at 7:45 am. Students may drop off their belongings in their classroom and head to the cafeteria for breakfast. Please remember that breakfast and lunch are free this semester. Students will only need money for "extras" such as chips, cookies, the famous slushies, etc. Students may choose to sit in the cafeteria or outside. Outside there are red, white, and blue dots that are 6 feet from each other. Students sitting outside will need to pick a dot to sit at during lunch. Outside lunches are picnic-style lunches. Those not following social distancing protocols during lunches will lose the privilege of eating outside. During inclement weather, we will also open the gyms for lunches. 6th-grade students are all picked up in the staff parking lot. If this week is your first time on campus, 6th-grade parents, please have a sign with your student's name on it placed in the passenger side windshield area. For all other 6th-grade parents, you will follow our normal dismissal procedures. 7th and 8th-grade students are picked up in the parent loop (near the track).
Reminders for the second nine weeks period that begins this week:
- masks must be work in the building
- spacing in the classrooms has been relaxed, students are no longer 3 feet apart in all classrooms due to the number of students we will have on campus
- students will be issued sneezeguards with their name on it during their 5th-period class on Tuesday. In any class that can't meet the 3 feet spacing between students, students will be required to wear their mask and to utilize their sneezeguard. Refusal to do so may result in disciplinary consequences. Students will carry their sneezeguard with them and leave it in their last class of the day. They will return the following day to pick up their sneezeguard
- please bring a refillable water bottle with you every day
- please bring an extra mask in your backpack in case your mask breaks or gets misplaced
- we will continue to offer mask breaks during passing periods. Any time a student's mask is off, they are to be 6 feet away from others.
- The grading policy is changing from the first nine-weeks, please check your student's grades weekly. Teachers update their grade book by Tuesday at midnight each week. Students will now only be able to redo and/or retest for up to a 75. I will send a reminder out soon with all of the updated grading policy information.
- please bring your device and charger to school each day
I hope everyone has a great week!!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ginn
