Global Leadership Program

Fall 2021

Welcome Back Global Leadership Program Academy!

We are so excited about the coming year for our growing academy. Now, entering our 5th year, we welcomed 37 new members this year. There are now 105 GLP students! We have a wonderful speaker line-up planned, a new language series, and our virtual exchange to tell you about. More info below!

A Welcome from Vermont Secretary of Education Dan French

We were honored to welcome Vermont's Secretary of Education Dan French at our final GLP event at the end of May. Here is a snapshot of his remarks to GLP students!

International Student Forum

At our International Student Forum this year, we'll meet Larissa (from Bahrain), Lorenzo (from Italy), and Noah (from Switzerland)! They are studying at EHS for the year, and will share some background about their countries and schools, and their first impressions of the U.S. The first forum takes place on September 28!

The GLP Language and Culture Series ~ Russian

This year we'll have the chance to have a series of Russian classes. The first two classes are on October 3 and 17 with our Russian instructor, Michael White, from the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for Government and International Studies in Richmond, Virginia.

Our International Virtual Exchange

This year our annual exchange will be virtual with our partner schools in Brussels, Belgium, Copenhagen, Denmark, and Madrid, Spain. You'll be preparing a recorded video introduction to share with your counterparts abroad, and then you'll have several chances to meet them as well.
Here are a few student introduction videos from last year's International Virtual Exchange!

And a look back at 2020-21

Last year, we had an incredible Speaker Series featuring the Ireland's Ambassador to the United States, the producer of Crooked Media's Pod Save America and Pod Save the World, the Executive Director of Racial Equity for the state of Vermont, Tetra Tech's Christian Kolar on the importance and complexity of U.S. foreign aid, and the Director of Quality at Boeing Global Services, on the importance of networking and the power of curiosity. We also held our Senior Practicum on intercultural communication & competency, launched an entirely virtual international exchange, and offered Russian for the first time!

About GLP

This was a short film released in September of 2019 about GLP and featuring GLP students, as well as our partner schools from abroad! We pivoted to virtual programming the following spring, but we can't wait to see each other in person again as well.
